Description
From a #1 New York Times bestselling author, America's best hitman must rescue a teenage runaway and investigate her parents' murder.
It begins with a hit gone wrong. Robie is dispatched to eliminate a target unusually close to home in Washington, D.C. But something about this mission doesn't seem right to Robie, and he does the unthinkable—he refuses to pull the trigger. Now, Robie becomes a target himself and is on the run.
Fleeing the scene, Robie crosses paths with a fourteen-year-old runaway from a foster home. But she isn't an ordinary runaway—her parents were murdered, and her own life is in danger. Against his professional training, Robie rescues her and finds he can't walk away. He needs to help her.
The more Robie learns about the girl, the more he's convinced she is at the center of a vast cover-up, one that involves unimaginable levels of power.
Now, Robie may have to step out of the shadows in order to save this girl's life...and perhaps his own.

5By Wet againThis book is an utterly amazing read from the first to last page!! Will Robie is an assassin employed by the United States government. Only one person can match his skills and that is his mentor Shane Conner who saves him in the end. Robie is trying to save a teen age runaway in the foster care system. She witnesses her own parents murder and now they want her dead. An excellent read!!! My highest recommendation !!Such a great plot
5By WardlawkmMany twists and turns without being confusing. Everything ties together and I couldn’t put the book down. I had to lay out of work to finish it.The Innocent
1By VStellThis book had me captivated for a while. Then the plot got improbable, the characters got inconsistent and I only finished reading because I was hoping the author would redeem himself. Didn’t happen.Absolute Page Turner
5By mmkphotogI couldn’t put the book down. I was turned on to this series by reading the last book first, End Game. It really doesn’t matter which book you read first, as they do tie into one another, they all have different stories. I’ve read 3 out of the series in 13 days and do not plan to stop until I’ve read them all. David’s books are so thrilling that you cannot put them down.Super Reading

5By floyd4622Amazing read! There were a couple of times I had to stop reading for a while. It was just so intense with the details of torture of Mercy I had to take a break. The other was pitting the sisters against each other. I have read nearly all The author’s books. A great talent for building his characters.I’m sad.
2By ScubaDyerI miss David Baldacci. Like Robert Ludlum, someone has clearly bought the Baldacci name.Exceptional

5By nadorabbitExcellent!!Couldn’t stop reading
4By therealnekoThis book is masterfully written. The plot becomes a bit obvious concerning who the main other killer is but forgivable for how the story is told. Action fans may have a problem with how godly the main character’s skills are but it is evened out by other goings on. The obviousness of the story and the character development is only reason why hold back the fifth star. That being said, this is one of the better action novels I’ve read in a very long time. The Innocent
5By Joy Y45Best Baldacci novel yet!The Innocent
3By El Vato.Much too predictable and the writing had a cadence like a Dragnet episode. Because I like Baldacci I read on, expecting the book to get better but it never did.The Innocent
5By SaratogawordGrabbed me from chapter one and took me late into the night and one though the next day until I finished it. I just had to know what was going to happen next. The author has continued to write in a captivating style; one that keeps me wanting more. I have read many of his books and will continue to do so.D
