At the age of twelve, Sophie Caco is sent from her impoverished village of Croix-des-Rosets to New York, to be reunited with a mother she barely remembers. 5By Yvette67A remarkable storyline. It draws you into the lives of women who struggle to be free from the way of life of generations before them, of the plight of poverty and the impact of political instability. The global theme of rape and the violation of the innocence of young girls. One can never remain oblivious to those critical issues that impact on women all over the world, threading their mere existence, their sanity, their survival. Look forward to reading more of her novels.
