You can literally read a chapter, walk over to the US machine and try it on a patient. It has the "How to”, “pit falls” and the know how on each technique. The chapters are written by a “who’s who” of clinical US, and there is a bonus. Get the one minute app and if it’s been a while since you read the chapter look up the refresher in the app, before you walk to do the study.

This is an outstanding resource. Although prior ultrasound texts are useful, I think the combination of text and video along with excellent illustrations are much more helpful than any prior ultrasound text I have seen. Other EM texts could learn a few lessons on how to organize and present information in this way.

This great electronic tool enables teaching this great, cost effective, and safe diagnostic modality, which is point of care ultrasound, to all providers in emergency medicine as well as all other fields of medicine. The book compiles chapters from all the great experts who are in the forefront of developing this novel tool for assessing time sensitive conditions and reaching a fast diagnosis. It is thrilling to be able to teach using this book that utilizes multimedia and video clips. This should be a "must buy" for all who really want to be great providers of care.

This book is phenomenal not only for the multitude of ways that it gets the message across (concise text, labelled images, video, links to other resources, etc...) but also for the wide range of uses of ultrasound that it describes. As a med student heading for residency, I know I'll be able to grow into this book. I definitely would not have thought of using ultrasound to identify a shoulder dislocation or a hip effusion!
