Description

Dr. Ian K. Smith's Shred is the answer to every dieter's biggest dilemmas: how to lose that last twenty pounds? How to push through that frustrating plateau? What to do when nothing else is working? Here, Smith has created a weight loss program that uses all he knows about strategic dieting in one plan--like putting all the best players on the field at once to create a can't lose combination. Shred combines a low GI diet, meal spacing, and meal replacements. Those who follow Shred will constantly be eating (every three and a half hours!), four meals or meal replacements (soups, smoothies, shakes) and 3 snacks a day, over a six week program. Shred also introduces Dr. Ian's concept of "Diet Confusion". Diet Confusion, like muscle confusion, tricks the body and revs up its performance. In the same way you need to vary your workout to see results, switch up your food intake to boost your metabolism.

No matter how often or how unsuccessfully you've dieted before, Shred: The Revolutionary Diet will change your life. Shred has taken the internet by storm, and thousands have already joined Dr. Ian's Shredder Nation, losing an average of four inches, two sizes or twenty pounds in six weeks. Utilizing the detox from Fat Smash Diet, the intense cleanse of Extreme Fat Smash, and varying food of The 4 Day Diet, Shred is a six week plan to a new way of life!

  • Be Patient and Stick to it

I bought this book without any real expectations, as I had never been able to stick to a diet before. (Aside from pizza and fries) but I completed 1 six week cycle and lost 37 pounds. I wont pretend that I didn't get bored at times, or have slip ups. However, the thing I loved about this regiment is that it allows you to be human. It gives space for the inevitable slip ups and boring/lazy moments. The first 2 weeks is the hardest, because if you're anything like me you just want some good old fashioned comfort food after a good workout. But if you stick to this plan and you are vigilant about your working out, you will have success. I'm currently 50 lbs down. After my second cycle, Ive hit a plateau. Im starting the super shred to hopefully break the plateau. But for those who have been unsuccessful thus far, my recommendation is to change your mindset and try again. Try reading the book thoroughly before starting. The desire for instant gratification often makes you miss important factors, by skipping straight to the meal plan. ( as I did the first try at it. And quit at week 1 day 4) and now I've gone From 263 to 213, in 6 months. If I can do it, anyone can. Just be patient.

  • An Awesome Plan To Follow

I am so glad Dr. Ian wrote this book. The plan is so easy to follow. A couple of coworkers and I have joined the Shredder Nation. It is amazing that people are saying that it is hard to follow, but not for me. We have developed our weekly plan for meal for the entire program. The word document with my detailed plan for the week is posted on my refrigerator as well as above my computer at work. That is the best way to know what I am supposed to eat. Even though so meals are repetitive, as long as the scale keeps moving down I am happy! I ever set an alarm on my phone to remind me of the times that I need to eat. I will say that I need to improve on the number of days that I workout, but I am on week 4 and I am down 9 lbs. I usually get bored easily but I am ready for the next round. I even joined the Houston Shredders and Happy Shredders group on FB. It is great to connect with other people as I continue my "Shred Journey."

By the second week I had gained three pounds. Uh. I don't eat this much food. I'll pass on the rest of the "diet."
  • Boring

The meal plan is so freaking boring, its the same food choices repeated everyday, and every week. I mean no way, I'm not sticking to the plan if it's that boring.
  • Realistic weight loss plan

I bought this book after seeing Dr. Smith on The Dr. Oz show. I have about 20 lbs to lose. It is a realistic plan that is relatively easy to follow. If I follow the guidelines I am never hungry. I lost 2.5 lbs the first week! The snack food recommendations and smoothie recipes alone are worth the price of the book. This is a plan you could follow for life, not a gimmick.

Very disappointed in this book. He just tells u what to eat and eat every few hours according to a time table and u have to eat. But no where in the book does he explain how the plan works and no details on anything. No scientific. Data or info. Maybe chapters r missing in the iBook edition cuz it seems very incomplete

I only lost 1 pound after week one so got discouraged and could not get myself back started for week two. I guess I need the strictness at the beginning so I can feel like I am doing something and keep me going. Oh well on to the next one :-(((((((((
