Now a major motion picture starring Ewan McGregor!
From master storyteller Stephen King, his unforgettable and terrifying sequel to The Shining—an instant #1 New York Times bestseller that is “[a] vivid frightscape” (The New York Times).
Years ago, the haunting of the Overlook Hotel nearly broke young Dan Torrance’s sanity, as his paranormal gift known as “the shining” opened a door straight into hell. And even though Dan is all grown up, the ghosts of the Overlook—and his father’s legacy of alcoholism and violence—kept him drifting aimlessly for most of his life. Now, Dan has finally found some order in the chaos by working in a local hospice, earning the nickname “Doctor Sleep” by secretly using his special abilities to comfort the dying and prepare them for the afterlife. But when he unexpectedly meets twelve-year-old Abra Stone—who possesses an even more powerful manifestation of the shining—the two find their lives in sudden jeopardy at the hands of the ageless and murderous nomadic tribe known as the True Knot, reigniting Dan’s own demons and summoning him to battle for this young girl’s soul and survival...

Not What I Expected
2By Dickiosk MaximousI absolutely loved The Shining, however this book doesn’t ready as a horror novel. It’s more of a drama with some violence here and there. I wouldn’t go into this with high expectations. One of King’s Best
5By meblair76I have read many of King’s books. Good plot and great characters. Some of King’s books leave you hanging at the end. For once, he wrapped up the loose ends and had an ending.A favorite for me
5By nerdgirlsdoitbetterSometimes King just gets everything rightGrueling
4By ellaleoraI liked the book but felt it drug onNot what I was hoping
2By FeatherLynn42I enjoyed knowing what happened to Dan Torrence. I didn’t enjoy the plot twists and how predictable the book was. The first half was decent. The second half was boring and made me wish the book was over already. Childish and not scary.Better than expected like usual!!!
5By mommycakes14ddHe nailed it once again!!! What a page turner!!!Doctor Sleep
5By Liz32906Great as ever ,Stephen King is the best storyteller of our time! Doctor Sleep had such a wonderful twist and turn.It kept me reading when I should be doing things like sleeping! Liz Bell3290624 year starting to read again
5By RyanneO97I read the Shinning and then Doctor Sleep as a way to get back into reading since academia ruined the love for me. At some points I liked Doc Sleep more than the Shinning due to character developments. Some parts of Doc Sleep angered me, such as a plot twist near the end of the book that really did nothing for the story or solving the “who is the steamhead” in one sentence. Overall, i loved this book and I am really sad to say goodbye to Danny.Scary
3By NoMuttsWithNutsI first thought it was scary But then it just boringGood Good Good Sequel
4By Tyler H from CharlotteVery good and interesting book if you were a “The Shining” fan and I certainly was!! It wasn’t my favorite but just like Stephen King books, I couldn’t put it down and just wanted to read and read and read so I will absolutely give it a 4 out of 5 stars 😀
