Description

When women understand how God has empowered them, they can "wield the sword" of feminine strength against any evil that threatens them and those they love.

What if you discovered you have been entrusted with an invisible, invincible, and incorruptible weapon? Would you use it?

In a day of worldwide trafficking, gendercide, discrimination, and other hostility against women, Lisa Bevere points to a biblical foundation to present a model of feminine strength that will empower women to live confidently. Drawing on the many references to swords throughout Scripture, the author constructs a revealing and compelling female paradigm that will impact every area of a woman's self identity, spiritual awareness, relationships, and life vision and mission. Long known for her passionate and articulate expression of biblical womanhood, Bevere presents fresh imagery--as enticing and strong as polished steel--to prepare women boldly for the challenges they face in today's world. It's not enough to just be wise and strong: Now a woman must know how to wield her sword.

Creatively forging the imagery of swords, the Word of God, and the Cross, Girls with Swords will teach you:
• How to speak the language of heaven on earth
• What it means to intercede
• What it means to carry your cross
• What it means to be discerning
• How to disarm the enemy
• Why women are the enemy’s target—and why God needs them to be heroes

It’s time to take up your sword and be a hero.

I found this book a chore to get through. It meanders and I found that though it had a few good nuggets, I had to trudge through a lot of ground wondering where the heck it was going to get the few nuggets. I would not buy this book for even $3.99. And when I saw the author in person, myself and the the women with me found the sermon to feel the same way. There are some good principles here, but be prepared to be patient to find them.

In Girls with Swords, Lisa Bevere is again charging the hearts of women and challenging the current role women have thought we were play according to the world's standards and saying, no, God sees us as more and created us as more. What we don't understand we often misuse or abuse and that can translate to how we see and treat ourselves. Bevere uses the sword in all its functions and vastness to teach us of the true courageous life we are to live. And it a magnificent lesson you won't soon forget. I don't want to give too much away but you will read passages over and over applying every thought to your personal life and self image. You will better understand who you are and end the cycle of misuse and abuse. I love the transparency of Lisa Bevere and how she shares stories in which we can all relate and then see how we can grow from our own life experiences. She really shares her heart and you can feel the passion she has within the book for its purpose and for us all though she may have never met you. I also loved how Bevere used the imagery from swords and movies to drive home some pretty powerful points. You are left like "WOW!" There are so many instances where I felt like she knew my own thoughts or we saw the same things in the examples she used. This is not a book for anyone who thinks they have arrived and have nothing left to learn about who they are meant to be and the purpose they carry. If you are satisfied with where you are in life and are not ready to be challenged to become an agent of change, healing, and live a selfless life where you embrace the power of unity then this book is not for you. If you are ready to see yourself through the eyes of God then pick this book or download it and be ready to change yourself and your world.
