Some deals can’t be broken.

According to the family curse, Tessa has until her next birthday to select her future husband. However, choosing would mean his premature death. Unwilling to condemn any man to that fate, Tessa searches for an explanation behind the curse and the rules that dictate her life. What she learns is more terrifying than she could have imagined.

A demon brokered a deal with her ancestor in exchange for a companion, and he's come to collect. Tessa has a choice to make. Pay the debt or condemn a man to death. Her time to decide is running out, and as she’s learned, breaking the family rules always has consequences.

This is one of my favorite books from Melissa Haag. I've re-read this so many times, I'm glad I have digital, a paperback would be worn out! Even though this is a YA book, adults will also enjoy (I'm 54). I have all of Melissa Haag's books so far, really enjoy her stories (she also writes adult books under- MJ Haag -also awesome books). Melissa Haag is the only author that I have ALL of the books she's published so far. She can get you so involved with her writing, you can't put her books down, & you feel all the character's emotions

Ms. Haag never disappoints and makes evey penny spent worth it and more. I absolutely hogged this book down like a starved soul. The connection that she creates between Morik and Tess, and all her characters for that matter, be it any book (and I’ve read all) is simply great. Can’t wait for more from this author!

Very sweet story, a emotional roller coaster that leaves you satisfied and wanting more. Great stand alone to read when not wanting to commit to a series. Looking forward to read more from this great author. Morik & Tessa are just amazing. Hope there's more to this, if not this will do. 💋

Twilight will always be my favorite series, but this tops my favorite book! I couldn't put it down. I have read hundreds of books and, other than Twilight, I've never been so compelled to read the whole thing and not stop as with this one. You'll love it!

I read my first Melissa Haag book about a month ago and thoroughly enjoyed her style of writing. That first book was a free one through Book Bub and was the first book in the Judgment of Six series. After I finished, I immediately purchased every other book she has written thus far. Touched is a very well-written book, with a compelling plot, which translates into a great story with no need for graphic sex scenes to fill in pages. I've noticed that many of Ms. Haag's books are rated as young adult; however, I'm in my sixties and I've found that her books appeal to all ages. In this book, Tess, the heroine, and her female relatives (no living male relatives) live under a "curse" whereby each female in the bloodline must choose a husband before her 17th birthday. From the times she reaches age 12, she must also be in the house before dark each evening and is chanted to sleep for her protection. She has the gift of being able to see her future with each boy she touches, including how many children, always girls, would be born to the union. But there is a terrible drawback to this knowledge -the chosen always dies young. Tess discovers the origin of the curse, as well as the reason she must be in the house before dark and why her life is subject to the other rules she lives under. Her road to understanding becomes a tender tale of love and friendship, with unbelievable highs and unimaginable lows, all leading to a joyful conclusion. There were a few grammatical and spelling errors, but none detracted from the beauty of the story.

I don't often write reviews but couldn't let the review space sit empty and have people possibly pass up such a great story. The characters were well developed and the writing style is superb. I laughed out loud on a few occasions, found myself with a big silly smile while others looked on wondering what I was reading, and had tears in my eyes - all in the same day! I'm sad the book ended, and after reading all of the other Melissa Haag books in less than a week I am at a loss on how I can keep up my reading streak! Thank you Melissa, I loved them all, but especially Touch.
