Description

This is a coffee table style eBook, that does not include any video, so it can be more widely read. It is heavy on images, and light on text. There’s a short introductory chapter that gives an overview of the golf course. The next 18 chapters are each dedicated to one hole, with a short description of the challenges a golfer will face, yardage book illustration, and several high quality images. There are also chapters on the clubhouse and areas around the course with accompanying images. The author's favorite chapter is one of the last where she included images that she either hand painted, or rendered in a painterly fashion to create stunning artwork.

"Wow, Beautiful, Amazing". Those are the words that I continued to exclaim while looking through this book. The images that are captured in this book are stunning! As someone who has played Purgatory Golf Club, I know how pretty it is, but this book, brings to course to life for those who haven't had a chance, yet, to experience it's beauty. Tenna Merchent has done a terrific job once again and is an artist with a lens.

When I was told about is "Coffee Table Book" on an iPad, I admit I giggled a little. But as the author Tenna Merchent said in the book, "This book is heavy on images and light on text" - just as a coffee table should be. The images are what make this book great. While I have played Purgatory, I haven't had the opportunity to pla the course at dawn, and based on the images from the book, I now have another thing on my Bucket List. The preface does a great job of getting the reader in the mindset of preparing to go play the course and covers everything from bathrooms on the course to Strategy, Risk and Reward. After Chapter 1 comes the holes. And the images of the holes. What fantastic images. Tenna must have spent hours on the course during different times of the day to get such stunning photos. I won't go through each hole, but I love hole #2. There is one image of "smoke on the water" and another that reflects the blue sky making the water look pure blue. All in all, a stunning book - even if I am still struggling with a Coffee Table Book on my iPad Mini.
