#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • John Grisham delivers high-flying international suspense in a stunning legal thriller that marks the return of Mitch McDeere, the brilliant hero of The Firm.
“A breathtaking update on the McDeeres and the life they made . . . Grisham, in vintage form, ratchets up the suspense in this winning sequel.” —The Wall Street Journal
What became of Mitch and Abby McDeere after they exposed the crimes of Memphis law firm Bendini, Lambert & Locke and fled the country? The answer is found in The Exchange, the riveting sequel to The Firm, the blockbuster thriller that launched the career of America’s favorite storyteller.
It is now fifteen years later, and Mitch and Abby are living in Manhattan, where Mitch is a partner at the largest law firm in the world. When a mentor in Rome asks him for a favor that will take him as far as Istanbul and Tripoli, Mitch finds himself at the center of a sinister plot that has worldwide implications. Once again Mitch’s colleagues, friends, and family are targeted. Mitch is a master at staying one staying one step ahead of his adversaries, but this time there’s nowhere to hide.
Reviews
Predictable
3By leat8080This was a good read however very predictable .Compelling
5By AzngurrlNot as good as The Firm but as compelling. I hope to read more about the McDeeres including Ray and maybe bring back Tammy/Doris.Boring and slow
2By Reading mom of 8I only finished to say I was finished. I kept hoping for some big climax or point to the whole story but it never came.Almost perfect
4By chase3159A taut writing job, as expected from a master story smith, But IMHO, too many side excursions off the main road.Plodding and Unsastisfying
2By M_LuboHard to think of any characters that were really likable in this very mediocre story. Could have done much better justice to Mitch McDeere. Pretty much every line is packed with nauseating opulence. And why do all the characters seem to be constantly drinking? Just a very unsatisfying read. Not bad
3By bwjones09It’s ok. Ending was a letdown.Reading it a second time!
5By CAS121212126I read this Grisham book several years ago and decided to read it again. I discovered that I had forgotten so much but remember just enough to keep it moving along beautifully. Once again, Grisham has captured my intrigue. So much writing talent! A real pleasure to enjoy a second time!Disappointed
2By gskutackStarted really well but by the middle I was getting bored and the story got predictable.YAWN
1By Battery223Did Grisham really write this book? Very boring no twists no turns. Horrible sequel. Don’t bother with this one.The Exchange
2By ladybug725Full of unnecessary details, no plot twists, expectable ending, boringExpecting twist
4By gswilkieWas expecting twist at end like Giovanna set it up but it was a good read and zoomed through it in record time.No
1By c@t#h$I read it. Cannot recommend. Did not read like Grisham’s writing. Sorry I bought it. Have read and enjoyed at least a dozen of his books. Especially enjoyed “Playing For Pizza” (not a lawyer book). The exchange
1By louise sanibelIt’s a boring story and incredibly poorly written. Such a surprise as I like all other books by John Grisham. It felt like it was written by an untalented high schooler.Incredibly good story!
5By Doug AbbottFrom beginning to end this story grabs you and doesn’t let go. Good novels are believable, this one sure is.First Draft worthy
2By legalavengerNot his best work. Overall descent story, but not worthy of The Firm,. Misses the mark like a first draft.Boring
1By Madiluc20 year wait and this was so disappointing. It’s one of those books that you start reading and you keep hoping that it’s going to get better but it does not. The pace is very slow and never picks up. It was also very predictable from the beginning of the book when one of the characters gets sick and the fallout from that to the very end. I read 3/4 of it and skipped to the last two chapters. I could not finish it. Very disappointing.Goes nowhere… super-slow, unrewarding read
1By Mike CovenGoes nowhere… super-slow, unrewarding readWorst Grisham ever!
1By Tim8sharkSo disappointing. The story was nothing but traveling around and making phone calls. Descriptions of cities and meetings…Blah!A book about nothing
1By Engler427The plot is an endless and boring effort of raising ransom money… nothing more. One of his worst.
