Description

In the ruins of civilization, a young girl's kindness and capacity for love will either save humanity -- or wipe it out in this USA Today bestselling thriller Joss Whedon calls "heartfelt, remorseless, and painfully human."

Melanie is a very special girl. Dr Caldwell calls her "our little genius."

Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointed at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite, but they don't laugh.

Story is gross, but promising. The end was a let down. I’m glad I didn’t pay the $10 for it and waited til it was on sale.

It’s been stated that this is a young adult novel but as an older adult I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

This is by far not my genre of reading, but I bought it because it said on the books shelf if I liked Handsmaids tale I would like this. Well I don’t get the comparison at all... but I Really enjoyed it! It was a pretty simple read with a few well developed characters. I simply couldn’t put it down. A nice surprise!

After having first seen the movie I decided to try the book. The movie closely follows the story line of the book so if you enjoyed the film then you will more than likely enjoy reading this apocalyptic tale of a killer zombie virus. I have read many of the written works in this genre and watched just about every movie pertaining to zombies and I must say that I am quite impressed. Read a sample and see if you can put it down. Good luck.

While enjoying a group's struggles of survival in a world post-infection on a global scale of mass devastation, you'll find yourself rooting for victory in an unexpected person and walking away from the ending not unequivocal of whether or not it was the right thing to do. Highly recommend this book!

Really enjoyed the book. The ending felt a bit rushed, but otherwise, excellent.
  • nicely crafted, fascinating, and too tedious

I thought it was great until they got close to London. It started going downhill with minutiae and Tolkin like detalil that would be fine if I had been… Great work and sophisticated… just pandeed to the pulp too much.
  • Thoughtfully exciting

M.R. Carey's deft pen has a way of taking readers on a joy ride. His refreshing zombie prospective that breaks down the scientific aspects of a zombie and his insight of each character steers the reader through an apocalyptic world at full speed.
