Description

She walked away from him once…

Struggling to live with her decision to walk away from the only man she ever loved and watching helplessly while her brother succumbs to his battle with severe PTSD, NSA analyst Claire Tierney’s life is at an all time low. The final hit comes when she accesses classified information at work that might get her fired. Instead, she’s assigned to a joint taskforce charged with hunting down a Taliban assassin planning an attack on American soil, and finally has something productive to focus on. Until she meets the rest of the team and learns she’ll be working with the last person on earth she wants further contact with; her ex. She knows letting him go was the biggest mistake of her life, but just when she thinks things can’t get any worse, new intel points to the assassin’s intended target. Her.

This time he’s not letting her go…

As a former Special Forces Master Sergeant and second-in-command of his Titanium Security team, Gage Wallace can handle anything, except being forced to go through life without Claire. When she abruptly walked out on him six months ago, his whole world caved in. It’s clear she’s still determined to keep her distance, but when she’s named a possible target of the very cell they’re trying to dismantle, Gage will stop at nothing to ensure she’s safe. When tragedy destroys Claire’s defenses and the explosive desire between them ignites once more, this time he’s not letting her go. Too late they discover that the danger confronting them is far greater than anyone ever realized, and it’s a race against time to stop a terrorist from unleashing hell on them all.

I really loved this book! I really like how the author goes into great detail with all the action. She sure has done her homework. If you love hot alpha males, hot love scenes, actioned pack emotional roller coaster then this ones for you! Ps I love how the hero Gage is 42 years old:))
  • Enjoyable, but I was hoping for ta similar level of intensity as IGNITED.

Purchased and read: Danger and Desire Boxed Set. Tags: Romantic Suspense, Second Chance at Love, Ex-Military, Hero: 42, Heroine: 30, Hero is Divorced I looked forward to this story ever since catching bits and pieces of their history in IGNITED. I really liked Gage (41) since the first book. Despite his personal turmoil, he had a great sense of humor and he was the perfect man to be Hunter’s second in command. The former Green Beret was divorced and had a thirteen year old daughter. He didn’t want more kids so he had had a vasectomy. Then he met Clair, they dated for four months, but before he could propose, she broke up with him. He tried giving Claire space hoping she'd reconsider but she moved on, or so she said. NSA analyst Claire (30) did a favor for Gage in IGNITED, and that favor had come back to bite her in the butt. Not only did she have to deal with pressure at work, but the feelings for Gage that she’d tucked away came back full force. She thought her reasons for walking away from him were sound at the time—the twelve year age difference, she wasn’t ready to be a stepmom, she didn’t want to give up on the idea of having kids, and she didn’t ever want to be with someone in his line of work. Claire was a little all over the place in this book and it took her a long time to even out because of the threat against her, then her mixed emotions about Gage, and finally having to deal with the suicide of her brother. She spent a lot of time in tears, mourning, wracked with guilt and anger. I didn't particularly enjoy the scene of her emotions coming to a boil that Gage wanted to help her work it off by allowing her to hit him. And I had to wonder if her brother hadn't died so suddenly, would Claire have eventually admitted to her real feelings for Gage? I just didn’t feel the chemistry between them, unlike between Khalia and Hunter. Even though it’s been two weeks since I read the first two books, this one was forgettable whereas Ignited was anything but. I was disappointed that the action and suspense didn't come close to the first book. I was hoping for another dangerous security op like it was with Khalia and Hunter. Now that one unfolded like a movie while this one was like an episode for a tv series. I felt the ending was a little rushed with the team finding out who the real targets of the bombing had been. I still enjoy the characters and the writing overall, so I'm looking forward to Zahra and Sean's story since their POVs indicated their story might be next.
  • A wonderful read

This was a wonderful read. I wish it could have been longer. I would love to hear more about the three of them.
