Description
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Jack Reacher will make three stops today. Not all of them were planned for. The “blockbuster” (Esquire) new Jack Reacher thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling authors Lee Child and Andrew Child, featuring “the best villain yet” (USA Today)!
Don’t miss the hit streaming series Reacher!
First—a Baltimore coffee shop. A seat in the corner, facing the door. Black coffee, two refills, no messing around. A minor interruption from two of the customers, but nothing he can’t deal with swiftly. As he leaves, a young guy brushes against him in the doorway. Instinctively Reacher checks the pocket holding his cash and passport. There’s no problem. Nothing is missing.
Second—a store to buy a coat. Nothing fancy. Something he can ditch when he heads to warmer climates. Large enough to fit a man the size of a bank vault. As he pulls out his cash, he finds something new in his pocket. A handwritten note. A desperate plea for help.
Third—wherever this bend in the road takes him. Impressed by the guy’s technique and intrigued by the message, Reacher makes it his mission to find out more . . .
Reviews
Disappointing
2By jmit22I’ve enjoyed the Reacher series from the start. These past couple books, however, have been substandard with this one being poor. Definitely not the standard of the Reacher stories as before. If you buy the book to read, it’s a coin toss if you’ll like it. The only thing I liked was it was still Jack Reacher. Not bad, not great
3By Dick Francis' finaleIt certainly is worth buying and reading. On the other hand, it’s not a ‘must read”. The action is fine, but there is not the supporting structure of strong characters to help make it a book you can’t put down. Certainly not sorry I read it, but Reacher needs to do better if I’m going to automatically buy every book that follows. Reacher’s interaction with the other characters could be stronger…he didn’t really connect with any of them…nor did I.Detail like a screen play.
3By JbmhowellTwo many details within each scene for a book. Unless you’re objective is to fill pages with words to sell books, or you’re trying to entice Hollywood to buy the story. Maybe Mr. Child was once a good writer, but now he’s just another printing machine.Exit stage left
1By Battery223Been a Lee Child/Reacher fan for years. This book was a convoluted mess. It seems like Andrew took over the writing and doesn’t quite have the grasp that Lee had on the essence of Jack Reacher. Bought it because it was on sale for $2.99. Still want my money back.Exit Strategy
4By George 2AThis was a quick read and not as nonstop action of the rest of the series.Very good read
5By B_EddingsAnother excellent book. Totally lived up to the legacy of ReacherStory line wasn’t as good as previous ones.
3By slancas199It was pretty good. In the beginning, it was difficult to keep all the characters straight. Also, I didn’t think the character development was as good as it has been in previous Reacher books.Pass
1By 510pickerI’ve read all of the books in the Reacher series. I struggled to finish this one. Don’t waste your money.Exit Strategy
1By -------THJust poorly written. Unlike Lee ChildGreat read.
4By The Wild FiendI liked the non stop action and secondary plot twists.Last book?
1By Agh4272If this is your last book it was very painful and disappointing to read and I wish you luck in your next career.‘Exited’ this one pretty quick!
3By frankiegee1Too many characters. Confusing at times randomly throwing characters into the mix. Was 25 dead soldiers really necessary?DNF
1By Uncle folgerToo many characters and plot lines. All the great Reacher action, ie his lifestyle, physicality and moral code was overshadowed and I couldn’t even finish. As long as this author collaboration continues, I’m done with this series. Sadly.Exit Strategy
3By steeveskasThis was my least favorite book in the entire series. It did not hold my interest. Usually I can’t put Reacher books down . I did not like this story line/I want the old Reacher back!
3By Chaser43Like so many of the recent Reacher novels, it starts great, then meanders with so many plot contrivances it makes no sense. I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football. Maybe Lee Child has his swagger back…dammit, missed again!Just Not the Same, But…..
2By Scott_A_Miller2.5 Stars. It was good because it’s Reacher. No offense to Andrew but the books just aren’t the same. This one kept me reading but the characters in need of Reacher’s help just weren’t that likable or sympathetic. I’ll keep reading everything they write though. Who am I kidding?Don’t bother…
1By Paul@pmvisualsReally bad. Not the same Reacher. A complicated plot doesn’t make up for bad writing. Lee Child should distance himself from Andrew.Reacher, Still the Best!
5By CaptainPratt SparrowSome reviewers have complained this outing doesn’t have enough action, moves too slow…they don’t get Jack Reacher. He is a thinker, an investigator, motivated to right the wrongs done by others in service of their victims and his country. He acts when he needs to, and he always succeeds. This is another shining example of and a very satisfying story. I couldn’t put it down! Classic Reacher! Not as bad as I expected
3By Dancing Queen 2000All the reviews are talking up how Andrew Child is no Lee. So true. But I really see it more as an editing issue. Some editor needs to get the guy to add more dialogue and stop the detailed over explaining (see the description of the port terminal as an example). And realize that Reacher has a sense of humor. The plot itself wasn’t bad, but it was a hard read at times. Willing to give him another shot.
