Description
The Gray Man, the world’s deadliest assassin and apex predator, discovers he’s really the prey in the most shocking entry of this #1 New York Times bestselling series.
Family means different things to different people, but in the Gray Man’s world, family is defined by blood—the blood you share with some and the blood you shed with others.
Court Gentry’s current family operates out of an office park in Norfolk, Virginia. The Ghost Town is an off-the-books direct action team run by Matt Hanley, former CIA Deputy Director. They take on the jobs the Agency needs handled “discretely,” and those jobs are rolling in.
Somewhere at the top of the US Intelligence apparatus, security experts and intelligence operations worldwide are threatened.
It starts with a blown safe house in Tunis. Then Court himself barely escapes from an ambush in the jungles of Nicaragua. Now key members of the U.S. counterintelligence community are being assassinated in their own neighborhoods. With the feds compromised, it’s up to Court and his team to stop the hit squads.
But eliminating professional kill teams may be the least of the Gray Man’s worries when he finds himself targeted by the legendary assassin codenamed Whetstone—a man driven out of retirement by a very personal quest to rain down hellfire on Court and everyone he’s ever loved, starting with the father he hasn’t seen in twenty years.
Reviews
The Hard Line
5By Uncle Buck 901Excellent !! Loved it all - Highly recommendWait for next installment and read both, back to back.
3By Dive4145For a seasoned writer and well developed series, this latest installment was quite a disappointment. Similar with other reviews, WTH with the uninspired and monetary focused abrupt ending. At ~280 pages in and with ~20 pages left, I started to wonder how Mark will wrap this up. I think there were uninspired attempts to stretch the book with a bit of fluff. I skipped sections of several pages. Dubiously, I think this could have been somewhat wrapped up in one installment. Instead, we’ll have to wait for almost a year for the second half. Great strategy on Mark and his team. They will rake in ~2x the revenue with two installments and we’ll have to spend ~2x as much. Capitalism, marvelous. Mark, do good with the extra income! Feed the hungry (mentally, physically and/or both). One might say you’re getting better
5By jack-areOne might say you’re getting better at this and they’d be right; Grey Man becoming more human than just a character - comes with age… Keep going you’re doing greatOne of the best!
5By DavefereGreat read! Very humanizing with many twists and turns. Can’t wait for the next one.Suspenseful
5By iurwcjGripping story, always keeps you turning that page to see what happens next, can’t wait til the next book.AMAZINGLY GREAT
5By Ikem OhiaSimply one of the Gray Man’s best. Not happy though at the rather abrupt end. Can’t wait for the follow up episode! The hard line
5By Battery223A really good read. Always enjoy the gray man. Good dialogue and flow. Ending was leading into next book guess I’ll just have to wait. Nice job Mr. Greaney. The Hard Line
5By wadenofRiveting. Can’t wait to read the continuation of this plot. The hard line
5By Bavarian HillbillyWell done. Don't usually like books over 1000 pages but this was so well written I wish it was longer.Exciting read
5By TravelintabMaybe my favorite in the long series. My only complaint- not a great time to be associating ICE in any way with the main characters of the series. And, hopefully that segment was not meant to be humorous on some level. Unless, of course, your target audience is xenophobic conservative dudes.Another Great Read
5By Volley DadWhat’s not to like about the Gray Man series? I’ve read them all and now I just have to wait for the next one. Keep ‘em coming, Mark.Fantastic
5By Lucky Guy 52I just finished Hardline by Mark Greaney and honestly couldn’t put it down. If you like fast-paced thrillers with a lot of action, this one definitely hits the mark. The story moves quickly but never feels rushed, and there are enough twists to keep things interesting the whole way through. Court Gentry (the Gray Man) is as sharp and capable as ever, and it’s fun watching how he navigates situations that seem impossible to get out of. One thing I really appreciated was how real everything felt. The details, the settings, and the action scenes all seem well thought out without getting bogged down or overly technical. Overall, it’s just a really entertaining read. Whether you’ve followed the series for a while or are jumping in for the first time, this is a great one to pick up.Possibly the Best Book in the Series
5By Bob3618The title of the review says it all. This was a fabulous read. Highly recommended!Wicked ending!
5By amycubs7Cliffhanger ending capped this excellent book! I can’t wait for the next one!FANTASTIC
5By DC InovatorA brain rattler. Edge of the seat read. Have to get the next install to find out what’s ext.Wow. I had to cancel all my plans and finish this book
5By HaloDocThis book started off a little slow. Then it picked up. Then it really picked up. So many twists and turns. As a former Special Operator I found the author’s knowledge of weapons and procedures amazingly accurate. I myself carry a Stacatto C2 and consider it the best everyday carry handgun. The ending was a total surprise and the best part it left room for the Gray Man to return. Not up to par!
2By YBqueenHorrible ending. Plot had with more holes than Swiss cheese. Formulaic. Uninspired. Very disappointed.Cannot wait for the next one!
