Description
A timely message across time from a young Puerto Rican percussionist and poet growing up in the hot bed that was late 1970's Chicago and that still reverberates with a heartfelt beat." Jorge Casuso - former Chicago Sun-Times and Tribune reporter.
"A window into the heart and soul of a Puerto Rican Latin percussionist that reaches back into time to reveal universal truths about love, culture, belonging, and the American Experience. Figueroa moves with ease across an evocative landscape that's adorned (and informed) by race, American urban life, and echoes of the "dreams" of and yearning for his native Island." Dr. Javier Diaz - Percussionist, Composer and Music researcher.
These oil paintings that burst forth from a young child's imagination and poems that were forged in the frigid barrios of Chicago are a testament to resilience and they symbolize the love bond between a father and his daughter. We have integrated our work in this book to express the heart, mind & soul of each poem and painting. This has taught us that a labor of love is like a child you have to nurture and keep healthy. We sincerely hope you enjoy our paintings and poems.
