Repetitive to the MAX
2By misnightborealisGenuinely one of the most repetitive books I’ve ever read in my life. Every single other line was “she saw patterns everyone else had missed” or “the city grid spread below, life continuing in despite the killer in its midst” or “the impassive face of the jack—neither smiling nor frowning—simply observing”. Zero character development. To be honest at least half of it felt copy-pasted from ChatGPT. The whole plot was “WE GOT THE BAD GUY” “oh wait no we didn’t”. Which like yes. That happens in an investigation. But for a fictional book I don’t think it’s too much to ask for at least a slight deviation from the same plot cycles. Cassidy is an interesting character, but I think there is SO much more room for development and character growth that simply did not happen in this book. To be fair though, I found the premise interesting and enjoyable, there is just so much room for editing and deepening this very surface-level, repetitive book.Better
