Description
This is the original story of Lovers at Heart. It has been rewritten as LOVERS AT HEART, REIMAGINED and is now available on Apple Books.
Billionaire Treat Braden is used to getting what he wants. When Max Armstrong walked into his life months earlier, he saw right through the efficient and capable facade she wore like a shield, to the sweet, sensual woman who lay beneath. She sparked an unfamiliar desire in him for more than a one-night stand, leaving his heart reeling and his body burning. But one mistake caused her to turn away, and now, after months of longing for the one woman he cannot have, he’s going home to try to forget her all together.
Max has a successful career, a comfortable lifestyle, and she’s never needed a man to help her find her way—until Treat Braden caught her attention at a wedding in Nassau. Their chemistry caused a surge of emotions too reminiscent of the painful past she’d spent years trying to forget. Max will do anything to avoid reliving that pain—including forgoing her toe-curling, heart-pounding desire for Treat.
When a chance encounter turns into a night of intense passion, Treat vows to do everything within his power to win Max’s heart forever—and Max is forced to face her hurtful past head on for the man she cannot help but love.

Lovers at heart
5By jk(9Really enjoyed the book, but I like all the books I’ve read by Melissa Foster.A favorite author
4By Ladydi232While reading The Snow Sisters series, I got a little hint of something between Max and Treat. It really got me excited to read their story. Max seemed like such a bad**s character. I couldn’t wait to see what hoops she might make handsome Treat jump through. “Isn’t that the greatest feeling? That instant when you know someone recognizes that you’re something more than what anyone else sees?” I was a little disappointed when it ended up that Max was hiding so much insecurity under her tough armor. But I’m glad that Treat was able to see through the tough and past the self-doubt and right into the amazingness that was the real Max. I so loved listening to this on audiobook! The narrator does a great job of keeping with the emotion of the story! I loved listening to this story on audiobook! The narrator really helps me feel the emotions of the characters! -4 Stars!-Treat Braden, as expected, is such a treat!
5By angiemccuneI enjoyed listening to this book after reading it when it was first released. I wanted to read Treat's story after first meeting him in the previous Love in Bloom books. He repeatedly showed how well he takes care of the guests of his resorts, his family, and his friends. This is also where I read about his first interactions with Max. Max is a kind, hardworking woman who has been hurt in the past. She's amazing and I LOVED reading about how her story with Treat began. If you haven't read Melissa's books, especially the Love in Bloom series or the stores of the Braden clue, you're missing out!Such a delicious Treat!! (Pun intended)
5By KindleKat64Melissa Foster definitely has a way with romance and BJ Harrison is narrating the heck out of them. The way he voices all the characters differently is amazing! I just love listening to these books! Having read this book about a year or so ago and since having gone on to read all of this series to date, I have to say it was wonderful going back to the beginning of the Braden's and even nicer to listen to in my car. Treat Braden is swoon-worthy and such a sweetheart. As the oldest sibling at 37 he is ready to settle down. He just needs to convince Max that she is the one for him. Max has been hurt in the past which explains why she is a little slower going into this and insecure, but Treat has a way of making her feel so loved and cherished she eventually can't resist him. Oh they have their share of ups & downs as all couples do but with a little help from fate, they will get their HEA. Love the Braden family! Keep on listening or reading this series to get the stories of how one by one the Braden's fall in love.HEA well fought for!
5By Kirsten EllenTREAT BRADEN is my absolute FAVORITE Braden. And Max, what woman with her past wouldn't be in questioning everything she was going through and feeling...having been there before and not wanting to cause the same outcome as before. She fights with herself and gives enough push and pull for 5 women. But, sometimes you just KNOW and Treat knew she was for him! Yes, it took her some time to realize they were meant to be, but sometimes, it takes us time to realize what is right in front of us! The audio version also gives it a little bit extra while listening to it. I forces us to slow down and listen and really think about the characters in the book. The only thing i would have done differently is have 2 narrators, one male and one female. THANK YOU MELISSA for the first GREAT Braden couple!!Love for Lovers at Heart
5By melj44Wow!!! Lovers at Heart is such a great read but to actually listen to it is even better!!! BJ Harrison does a wonderful job bringing this book to life! Max & Treat's story is one of the best so far!!! I love that Max is such a strong independent woman. Max having a secret past just adds to the character's complexity! One of the very best parts of this series is that you can catch up on your previous favorite couples in each new book!!Great Read
4By ThezielstrasThe first book about the Braden's and can't wait for the rest! Treat and Max's story is one about people who try to stay away but fate intervenes. Max tries to let go of her past to focus on her future. Treat realizes that she's the one for him and needs to win her affection. A great read and a great next chapter for the love in bloom series.Love audiobooks!
5By DonnaV89The narrator brought this book to life for me! Very easy to listen to. Treat and Max are both in love, but can't seem to be in the same place at the same time! Can she trust him? Can they both overcome their demons?Fall in love with the Bradens!
5By SpartanJen23Lovers at Heart is a wonderful roller coaster ride to follow as a reader. If you read Melissa's "Snow Sisters" series, we met Treat and Max under the context of their work and the roles they play with their friends/family. If this is your first introduction to Melissa Foster's books (or this series), don't fear--the story is a stand alone and explores the characters, the "fire" between them, and the real world relationship struggles that new couples can go through--but will their love be enough? I love this story and I actually recently re-read it. There are some side characters in the book that show up in other books by Melissa! Edited to add: I just listened to the audiobook version of this book. My first audiobook ever! I am hooked. I loved being able to just get lost in the story. The narrators voice was very soothing. It took some getting used to hearing the characters voices all done by the same person as I have not listened to a book before. I will be downloading some other favorites and some new ones to try!Book
5By BlueSaffireI loved it.I think anyone could relate to this story we all have our own monkeys we need to get off our backs and it's a hard thing to do.Wonderful romance!
4By ficcentralTreat Braden remembers it clearly, the morning the saw the woman who consumed his thoughts making the walk of shame from one of his employees' rooms. The disappointment and raw pain that shot through him came out in judgement and anger, and when she looked at his face, she knew exactly what he thought of her. But months later, he still can't get her out of his mind, wishing he had another chance. Max Armstrong never expected to see him again, but when Treat shows up at the festival in Allure, all those feelings she had come rushing back. But she's known his brand of judgement before, and it all but destroyed her. So falling head over heels for him isn't exactly on her agenda, even if she can't help doing so. Now she just has to get past her insecurities to give him another chance. TheVerdict: Oh, holy angst, Batman! Treat might be one of the most romantic fictional men I've ever met, but Max has got some serious issues. Not that I didn't like her, but wow. Her internal monologue was all twisted up, and while it later became clear why she had such a problem trusting love, she seriously had me wondering if she'd ever get it together enough to solidify a relationship with Treat. But drunk Max? Drunk Max I looooooved! Yeah, she was kind of awesome, and in her odd drunken way, she made a lot more sense. I was pretty mad at her for ignoring all the omg-he's-so-perfect things that Treat said and obsessing over Thailand instead (trust me, it makes sense if you read the book). But then she had a few too many drinks, and voila! Max became every woman who's ever been in love with a man. Now, who can't relate to that? I have to say that Lovers at Heart really surprised me. Neither Max nor Treat were your typical romance novel characters. Treat was all ready to throw caution to the wind and ditch his pride, unlike pretty much every other romantic hero in history, and Max was wonderfully neurotic. It made for a whole new dynamic, and I had to sit down and read it cover to cover. Sleep was forgotten. Food was delivered. Romance novel was devoured. And now I'm off to read about Rex –because, yum!Review: Love In Bloom: The Bradens #1
4By LisaHines711Lovers at Heart by Melissa Foster is the first book in her Bradens series and book four in the encompassing Love In Bloom series. This is my first book by this author and I was very pleased with it. Based in a small town with a close knit community this book draws you in with the setting, the characters (main & secondary) and the STEAM!!!! Treat Braden is a man that doesn't do long-term when it comes to relationships. He's never met anyone that he's desired that much. But when he meets Max Armstrong she tugs at something inside him that he never knew was there. He wants more but he's managed to screw something up. One mistake will leave him mourning the lost opportunity with Max. Max is a successful and fiercely independent woman with a painful past she keeps close and doesn't let anyone learn about. This causes problems for her when it comes to trust and especially with Max. She's not ready to let go of her control on her emotions or her life. Told from both points of view we get to agonize over both sides of the dilemma. Some people may not appreciate the emotional side of Treat but when I read about men crying I just picture Sam and Dean Winchester and all of their many emotional scenes throughout the life of Supernatural and it's all unicorns and rainbows in my world. I'm jumping into the series in the middle but each book can be read as a standalone. An excellent read and I can't wait to cuddle up with some alpha male Braden hotness!I loved it!
5By Me1568I love that this story is not just about a romance but how two people had to make themselves better and face their demons so they could have a fulfilling and meaningful relationship. I have read all the books in this series and I really love that the author goes a little deeper. I think each book gets better and better!! I love this author!Melodramatic for no reason.
3By ThruMyArtistEyesI wanted to like this book but it could have been a lot better. The love story is insubstantial and immature, family drama (while understandable) a bit overwhelming for only one of the books in a series, and the their issues could have been treated better. There were also a lot of grammatical issues.3.5
3By cookkidsThe book was too slow for me. I generally will not put down a good book. This book was okay but it took me four days to read it. I liked the story but it lacked something for me to stay interested from start to finish. I am going to try book two and see how Rex story goes. Wish me luckNot for me
2By Dame DayneReally tried to finish this but I gave up halfway through the book. A bit too cheesy.
