Forever My Girl
By Heidi McLaughlin
WILL BE IN THEATERS ~ JANUARY 19, 2018
I was never supposed to be a rock star. I had my life all planned out for me. Play football in college. Go to the NFL. Marry my high school sweetheart and live happily ever after.
I broke both our hearts that day when I told her I was leaving. I was young. I made the right decision for me, but the wrong decision for us. I've poured my soul into my music, but I've never forgotten her. Her smell, her smile.
And now I'm going back.
After ten years.
I hope I can explain that after all this time.
I still want her to be my forever girl.
Forever My Girl3By Tiggy/CookieHave never read this author. I bought the book due to all the five star ratings and high praise. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel the same way. I found nothing new or different in this story. Maybe the movie will be better. It was predictable and went on longer than needed.
Beautiful book!5By LatinRose19Wow the emotions that had me stuck to this book was beyond awesome! I read this book in 1.5 days. I laughed, cried, even lusted over the love of Liam and Josie. Can’t wait to read the 2nd book.
Cute story3By MLRLTRJust that, cute story. Not captivating, very predictable. Easy read.
Star quarterback football player became a rockstar.2By Annmric8Main characters: Josie and Liam who had alternating POV's. Supporting characters: Katelyn. Josie's friend from high school. Mason. Katelyn's husband. While the story was based on Mason's funeral and the draw of attendees, his presence in the story served a purpose, for shared memories for a past and future that changed at the hands of Liam. Liam's plans changed the course of lives he shared memories with. In the town of Beaumont the high school friends were returning home after ten years, not in celebration of a reunion but a funeral, for one of their classmates. Mason was married with three kids when he died in a car accident. Josie worked in a flower shop where orders kept her busy for the funeral. With talk of who was attending the funeral Josie hoped Liam would not attend. Liam was the star football player in high school. But during college became a rockstar. He left the town, the football career, and Josie. He had not returned until the funeral of his friend Mason. Liam was arrogant and cocky. No surprise considering he was a rockstar who was used to girls and fans wanting him. Yet, I'm already sick of it. I want to punch him and the girls that want him without knowing him. Liam gave up football and Josie to pursue his rockstar dreams yet he still felt unfulfilled and was lonely. The story was tied to football. Liam and Mason were the star football players in high school. While Josie and Katelyn were the cheerleaders. The town of Beaumont prided themselves on the golden boys who were headed to the NFL. Liam did not want to be tied to the label of golden boy. He felt suffocated by football. Life felt too conformed by football. He wanted to branch out. Liam's character was unstable. For Liam success came easy. He played football and excelled at it. Then he played guitar, sang, wrote songs, and performed, then became famous. He was popular in high school and dated the popular cheerleader. His family had money and social status. Even with all the success Liam felt suffocated by football because it was what was expected of him by his father and the town. It's a second chance contemporary romance with a love triangle between a pediatrician and a rockstar. Liam needed to redeem himself. Liam's reason for leaving without Josie was not genuine or redeemable to me. This is why. He returned to Beaumont for the funeral but not Josie. He excluded Josie from his dream to become a rockstar because he did not think she could handle his fame. He used his insecurity and jealousy at watching Nick have everything he promised Josie. He did not fight for Josie the same way he fought to see Noah. He blamed his career change on his parents unwillingness to access him wanting to be a rockstar yet Josie who spent two years with him had not comprehended his talent. Hiding his talent was his downfall. Not including Josie in his dreams was his downfall. Cutting off all ties to Josie was his downfall. Yet, Josie ignored all these downfalls because Liam was a rockstar.
