Description
World War I set the tone for the 20th century and introduced a new type of warfare: global, mechanical, and brutal. Nathan Hale has gathered some of the most fascinating true-life tales from the war and given them his inimitable Hazardous Tales twist. Easy to understand, funny, informative, and lively, this series is the best way to be introduced to some of the most well-known battles (and little-known secrets) of the infamous war.

The best way to experience war
5By Roadtrip1This is probably the only way a kid will experience war without feeling afraid and actually (from a kids lens ) understanding what happened. If this is what they used to teach history in schools, every kid’s favorite subject would be history.Stud

5By 145lewisAnyone who’s become accustomed to Nathan Hale’s savvy mix of humorous storytelling, facts, and concise explanations will be thoroughly impressed by the scope of information about WW1 conveyed in this graphic novel. In true Hale fashion, he shows the utmost respect for a young audience. Representing countries with animals brings clarity to a seemingly endless series of players and conflicts (but not before apologizing to historians first). While Hale’s previous works have succeeded due to his ability at weaving together fascinating threads out of complex periods in history, Treaties, Trenches… takes an overarching look at the entire war. Readers will be shocked time and time again as the devastation escalates, which Hale takes care to draw extra attention to through his periodic representation of Ares growing in strength. As with his other graphic novels, this latest volume is a shining example of how a great storyteller can convey a powerful sense of historical significance through visuals, comedy, and context.
