Description

From a USA Today Bestseller comes the story of alien abduction, a dark and sexy captain, and a crazy, wild adventure beyond her imagination...

Jockey Camryn O'Sullivan is on a downward spiral after the death of her husband. When aliens kidnap her, she's both terrified and reluctantly fascinated by Ryman Coppersmith. She's positive the weird attraction to her abductor is an anomaly. Something to ignore. She'll train the aliens' horse, and they'll return her home. Simple. There's no need for sex or a stubborn male kitty-cat to replace the precious memories of her husband.

Murder. Betrayal. Banishment.

Feline shapeshifter Ry has experienced treachery of the worst kind. When his foster brother—the man who betrayed him—proposes a wager on a hell-horse race, the lure to clear his name is irresistible.

Camryn's arrival triggers a jump in his already overactive sex drive. It's a struggle to keep his hands off his beautiful captive. Something in his mysterious feline background compels him to chase her, and the passion firing between them soars out of control. Ry doesn't understand the mechanics of their attraction but knows he can't afford to lose Camryn…despite his promise to return her home.

The story has it all! Danger. Sex, love, thrills, and a good ending. But I do think you could still do another book or two for some of the other main characters. Especially Morgans and Gwen. I see something like a spark there.

3.25* This is the my first book by Shelley Munro and I enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to reading more from her. With that being said I felt that I was missing out on something in the beginning of the book. The first few pages of the book grabbed my attention and I thought, oh this is going to be so good and heart wrenching. I felt for Camryn and the loss of her husband and her never ending guilt. Then the kidnaping and the aliens and it started to lose me. I felt a little lost because there was no world building and thought maybe this was a spinoff of a pasted series. But Ryman and Camryn's characters just kept pulling me along. Ryman was this hot, sexy and very possessive alpha male and Camryn was a mess of a guilt ridden alcoholic with very little care for herself. But through out the book she grew stronger and more self assured. Ryman has been exiled from his home plant for murder and now his brother has offered him up a challenge bet him at the Hell Horse Race and hell hand over the info on who the real killer is. He knows nothing of training horses so they come up with the idea of kidnapping a man from Earth well known for training race horses. Only they kidnaped the wrong person, Camryn. She insists they keep her and not go back for her brother. She won't allow them to take him from his wife and child and have them suffer the way she has since her husband Gabriel died. Little does she know what's going to happen the more time she's around the intriguingly sexy cat shifter, Ry and her unrelenting guilt she feels for her fading thoughts of Gabriel. One of the other problems for me was some of the wording Ms. Munro used. She'd keep the meanings of the words but spell it different or shorten them. At first it was troubling but then I kind of got used to it. I did enjoy the book as I said and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. To me it's a intriguing cross between paranormal shifter, sci-fi and regency England set in outer-space. I'm looking forward to the next book and I'm going to look up more of Ms. Munro's book to see if this is a spinoff series and maybe learn more about the alien world.
