Description

-- A USA TODAY best-seller --
Fiercely independent single mom Quinn Christiansen likes being known for having a heart too hard for any man to break. So when she finally meets the lone man in town inexplicably undaunted by her ball-busting tendencies, she has absolutely no clue what to do with him. Not only is he ridiculously handsome, and surprisingly sweet under his gruff and gritty exterior, he's also clearly determined to invade her life.

Rylan Grey isn't used to getting a woman so worked up. Well, not in a bad way, at least. And yet somehow, his mere existence seems to nettle the guarded and gorgeous Quinn to no end. But that's okay. He's a patient guy. Truth be told, though he's never wagered anything he's not willing to lose--namely his heart--where Quinn is concerned, he's more than ready to ante up...for what's bound to be his riskiest gamble yet.

"Violet's writing simply jumps off the page and grabs you from the first sentence. If you love strong heroes, you'll love her books." -- New York Times Bestselling Author Bella Andre

It’s a light read- you know that the boy’s going to get the girl in the end but it’s interesting to read on how they get together.

Quinn is a strong single mother who is afraid of losing her heart to the yummy musician Rylan. Her ex husband Brody was a musician that loved to gamble and decided one day to skip town and leave a pregnant Quinn to settle his debts. Quinn fears that falling for Rylan will put her in the same predicament she was in with Brody. I love Quinn's son Cooper. He is such a strong amazing little boy who continues to keep a positive attitude despite his illness. He is such a cute little boy. There was a conversation about feminine wiles and Copper decides to walk up to one of the crew members working on the shop and asks "Has my mom used her super powers on you?" 😂 I laughed so hard at this scene. This is another great story by Mrs. Violet Duke. I love that Mrs. Duke's books make me feel so many emotions while reading them. I also very much enjoyed that she continues Dani and Luke's story in the background of this book too.
  • A great pairing with Love, Chocolate, & Beer

Snappy, quick witted, and charming. Can be read as a stand alone book, but is more interesting to read right after Love, Chocolate & Beer as it is told alongside that story. I love the "other side of the coin" perspective. You know that Rylan & Quinn are married at the end of the first book, but you only catch a few interactions they have together. Quinn's past experiences make her unsure of Rylan until she gets to know him better. Rylan is willing to take his time and build a friendship with Quinn and Cooper. Love reading each page! Ready for the next book in the wonderful series!!

Rylan was working for Dani when Quinn walked in with Luke. Rylan could not stop looking at Quinn. At first she did not smile and after a while he was able toget that smile. Little did he know what caused her to be that way. Quinn was in love with Rylan and tried to break it off when Cooper needed surgery. Rylan refused to except that. Watching them fall in love and deal with human issues makes a wonderful story love this series

I was given this ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. This is book 2 in the Cactus Creek Series. In the 1st book we are introduced to Quinn Christiansen, who is business partners with Luke in his Chocolate Shop and Rylan Grey, who is the leader of the band that plays in Dani's Brewpub. I'd consider playing in a band is a 'hobby' for Rylan owns his own successful landscaping business. Quinn is single mom to her son, Cooper. He's a little dynamo and absolutely adorable who brings his own hilarity to the book. Quinn and Rylan have been attracted to each other since they first saw each other but Quinn has him pegged as a player due to her bad experiences with Cooper's Dad, who also played in a band. Due to small town gossip Rylan 'hears' every point/issue that Quinn has with him. Bravo to him for coming to her and confronting and addresses each issue. He proves he is nothing like her ex. He is just everything you would want in a man~sigh~ This book had me laughing out loud, crying and cheering. The whole town comes to together to help little Cooper and his mom out. It is so heartwarming. I want to live there!

This was a great book just like the others in this series! We met Quinn, Rylan and Cooper in previous books and am so happy to read about their story! Quinn is a very strong woman, she thought. Tragedy strikes and she realizes just how weak she truly was. Enter Rylan and the mixture of love and stubbornness is there! It's a great book on the way to Violet's next story! Don't miss out!!

I always love Violet's books and this one is no different. It lacked a little plot development in comparison to her other books and I had trouble remember the characters since the second was released so much later than the first, but it was still great. Buy this book, you'll enjoy it. *I was given an advance copy for an honest review.
