Description

Ryley Clarke has grown up with the military in her blood, with both parents serving their country. Ryley knows the risks of being married to the military. But when the unthinkable happens, and her future husband is killed in action, Ryley can barely survive... until Evan's twin brother, Nate, helps her pick up the pieces.

After serving on a special mission with the military for six years, Evan Archer returns home to find the unthinkable - the love of his life, Ryley Clarke - engaged to his brother, Nate.  With Nate on deployment, Evan needs to figure out what happened in his absence, and more importantly, how to win Ryley back from the man he once considered his best friend, but now thinks of as his rival.

I love the way this book starts, and ends. I would recommend this to friends and family. I felt the emotions described, and felt as if I were seeing it for real. I can't wait to start the next book.

I loved this book! Imagine being deployed for 6 years and all your loved ones being told you are dead but you don't know they were told that. What a surprise for all involved. This book deals with the aftermath of this situation and the people that you love have moved on in their lives. I bought the next book to see what happens to all of them.
  • I fell hard for these characters!

Well written and finish this book in one sitting. Cause I simply had to know who would she choose. Well it's not known in this book, so I relented and purchased the next book in the series. This fish took to the bait😘

I have no idea why people seem to like this book. I've only gotten to the point where she says her son thinks his uncle is his father and I'm done with this book. I was willing to keep going even when it was clear that she was fickle and immature and Evan may not be the soul mate she claims him to be. Though she said Evan was her soul mate it seemed like she had a thing for Nate was well...why did she try to run off his dates? Perhaps, she always wanted both brothers all along. Some lines shouldn't be crossed and this is one of them. Plenty of fish in the sea without adding relatives, especially when the dead person was supposed to be your soul mate. Add lying to her son about his father and I don't like her at all!

The stories told from both Ryley and Evan's POV. Each person is talking to the therapist. The therapist is rehashing the past of when Evan and Ryley met. The therapist is trying to disclose what happened to both of them for the last six years when he was considered dead. I like the story concept it's appealing. I want to understand why Evan was on a mission for six years receiving supplies and given updates on Ryley and his son when Ryley was told he was dead. That's what is so frustrating with this story. I want that answered and yet I feel Heidi is taking the long way around the block to give me those answers. I'm not feeling compelled by the story. The point or journey to get those answers is tedious and tiring. I admire Evans determination to win back Ryley. But I'm more concerned with why Ryley does not question the cover up and continues to stay committed to Nate when so many lies were told. It's really tortuous to read at this slow progression. I don't like how Heidi is making me fall in love with Evan and feel sorry for his desperation at winning back Ryley because I feel like Ryley is going to stay committed to Nate. The entire first book is spent with Evan spending time with his family. Nate was on a mission. The first book only hinted that maybe the four returning SEALS might be in danger. The reader is left with no closure on this matter. Nate returns home at the end, so we'll have to read the second book to find out how Ryley is going to deal with this dilemma. It was a good but slow building story. I would have preferred more answers from this first book, but I'll bite and wait for the second story to be released.

I love the way this book is written. Suspenseful and lots and lots of emotional commitment. Great book!
