Description

“Go Down, Moses” by William Faulkner is a collection of seven related stories. Since the pieces of short fiction are related, it is sometimes considered a novel. It does not fall under the category of a novel because it lacks the unity required of a novel.

Isaac McCaslin is the most significant character and the unifying force in the book. Generally called ‘Uncle Ike” he is uncle to half a country, but he is father to no one. He will live to be an old man.

The readers, initially, thought that it was a collection of short stories, but the author came forward and stood to be the object of all masculine pronouns.
