In classical fluid dynamics theory, ‘vorticity’ has been recognized as a physical observable, yet it’s only described as a mathematical construct resulting from fluid velocity circulation rather than a field of force extending into free space. This distinction is concealed by employing Lagrangian frames of reference.
However, if 'vorticity’ indeed represents a field of force extending into free space, akin to gravity, it should be incorporated into Newton’s second law for calculating the acceleration of mass. Similarly, gravity stores potential energy related to the distance between particles of mass, while ‘vorticity’ stores inertial energy associated with relative motion of mass.
Because ‘vorticity’ wasn’t included in Newton’s laws of motion for acceleration, it led to the long-standing mystery of the Runge-Lenz vector in orbital motion. Moreover, it hindered the development of analytical explanations for numerous other phenomena, such as fluid turbulence and tornadoes. This issue can be resolved by replacing classical fluid mechanics with a mechanical theory akin to Maxwell’s equations for electromagnetics.
Fluid mechanics and its applications have a long and distinguished history. In the Proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, King of Israel, it was stated by Agur the son of Jakeh that there were three things that were too wonderful for me, and four that I knew not. Of these, two were “The way of an eagle in the air” and “The way of a ship in the midst of the sea.”
