Becoming a Christian is to begin a life of service. Paul said of Jesus that He “took upon him the form of a servant” (Phil. 2:7), and that our mighty Saviour humbled Himself and gave His life for others. Once we are born again, it is time to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him (Matthew 16:24). To be effective in our life of service, we can learn from experience. However, we can also make great strides in our growth by learning from others. In this series of lessons, we will examine the lives of kings, prophets, individuals whose Bible accounts are well-known, and even some who may be easily overlooked without in-depth study. Their successes and failures can help us remain steadfast, consistent, strong, and productive in our lives of service.
