A true adventure story of the author’s first sailing voyage. A novice sailor she’d never intended to make this trip. A good friend with sailing experience had planned to go but at the last minute had a family emergency. Though early spring in the far north winter weather prevailed as she and her husband set out from Juneau, Alaska to Seattle, Washington. Storms, nasty seas, frigid temperatures, dense fog, intense rain squalls test their abilities, stamina and their marriage. Travel is slow and waiting weather continual adding stress. For the author the voyage is a paradox as she faces her fears in frightening conditions while awed by the breathtaking scenery and solitude.
