In 2009 the long suffering civil war in Sri Lanka came to an end with Government Forces having total victory over the insurgent Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) forces.
This journey follows the A9 highway through the Mannar district and areas that were unit just a few years ago under the control of the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam).
