I read the reviews before I purchased this book and read it… while I do not think it is better than Twilight, it was an amazing 10th anniversary addition. This book basically mirrors Twilight to the point that I’d wish Beau was a little more different in his own right. With that said, this was still an amazing read. The end was hard for me… that’s all I can say without giving away spoilers. Nevertheless, this is “a what if” scenario, as in what if the genders were switched and the story ended here. And I think in that light it was a great redo of the story. Thank you Stephenie Meyer!!

Amazing book and as a male reader I love the change in perspective as compared to the twilight series, but the ending felt rushed. A perfectly good series cut short and she said she’s making no more :(

I loved it. For me this story makes more sense than the original one. I would love to read more of it. I prefer Beau over Bella!!! Just my opinion.
  • Please write a sequel to Life and Death!!!

I know it was only meant to be an experiment for you, and that you probably don't intend to give it a full life as a series given how you said your let the reader make the ending but please will you write another it can't end on a cliff hanger of this proportion! It was so good I couldn't put it down during my holiday block leave from the army, please consider making this a series I think it would do well and give your fans another "twilight " to look forward to. (Or consider a continuation on the original twilight but with Jacob and Bella's daughter nessy's story)

Amazing, the only problem would be (SPOILERSSS) how they would have the baby. It's explained that due to women's... Ahem 'puberty' that a female vampire wouldn't be able to get preggers. But a male remains fertile their entire... Existence.?? Or would it be life..?ANYWAY that's the only plot hole I could see. Oh and the werewolf/shapeshifter thing would most likely switch roles as female being the dominant and make being only once ever heard of (blah blah blah) I'm just fangirlling aren't I?

I could see where Stephanie Meyers was going but I was to say the least not impressed. I wasn't impressed with the characters and didn't think that the characters weren't developed enough. I'm still a fan of Twilight and I honestly wished she just would have done just a rerelease of the movie in the theaters. But, I gave it three stars cause it wasn't a total loss. Maybe for the 15 or 20 year release she do something different.
  • No reason to hate it

DUH OF COURSE ITS THE SAME STORY LINE YOU IDIOTS THATS LITERALLY WHAT IT SAYS IN THE DESCRIPTION. Sorry but if you were expecting a completely different book then you need to read something that isn't a 'reimagining' of the one you've already read. It's just a different version and if you don't like it then DON'T READ IT.

Life and Death was better than the entire twilight series in my opinion. Stephanie keep up the good work and write another one about Beau and Edythe!
  • Is it bad that i like "life after death" better than "twilight"

Re-imaging the gender roles is great. Switching it up really opened my eyes. Edythe awes me, and the tweaks to the story as this goes along were both a great thought exercise and a way to open up a new vision into this story... and I really appreciate the afterword from the Stephanie Meyer.
  • Give it a chance!

All the bad reviews on this are people saying "I downloaded the sample and it's the same book!" Well, if you wait and finish the thing you'd see that it is not. Didn't you wonder how Esme's story would play out? Rosalie's? Jasper's? Didn't you wonder how Renesmee would play in given that Bella is now Beau and is not equipped to get pregnant? Stephenie Meyer got really creative with it. The ending especially. I loved that the whole 4 book story got wrapped up nicely in one longer book. I'm betting you'd be pleasantly surprised if you just would give it a chance.
  • Horrible. Same as Twilight.

I LOVE the Twilight saga. Seriously, I still watch the movies on rainy days. However, I'm so disappointed in Stephenie Meyer. It's like she just used Microsoft Word to replace "he" and "she" and the rest of the names. It's exactly the same as Twilight except for the ending. What makes it even more disappointing is that it was so difficult to picture the characters of an opposite gender in my head. So frustrating to read the entire time.

If I could give a negative star I would. Twilight and the whole series were so much fun and I have so many fond memories of my first time reading them... This was a complete joke! The names were beyond ridiculous, the character flips were painfully awkward. I don't know if she got so much flak for not having Bella as to get character in the beginning that she decided to make her into a way less than masculine man. I don't get it. The whole thing just made me feel bad. I have no idea why publishing and Stephanie would think this garbage was even worth trying.
  • ThankU Stephenie

I felt like this was a present, wrapped up nicely from Stephenie. A way to appease her publisher, celebrating the anniversary, while giving her fans a gift. All those copy cats out there that did "fandom" off these characters will probably imitate the core idea that she injected here. ThankU Stephenie.

I first read the sample, but couldn't not read the rest. It first was kind of complicated getting used to the switch in genders, but now I have read the whole book and loved it. I really liked Twilight, but I really loved this story more. This is my opinion. Don't take it offensively.

U serious? I got bored first few paragraphs because it's the same exact thing! A little more effort would have been nice. (Btw I luv twilight and stuff but not this)
  • I was skeptical.

I was a little skeptical after reading all of the reviews, but I got into this story just as much as I did the original Twilight. The gender and name changes did not make the story as confusing as others have complained about. To be honest, I liked Beau a little better than Bella (and I didn't see anything wrong with Bella when I read her story the first 20 times), I would enjoy seeing this version being turned into a series as well, but that not likely to happen. I have not yet read the accompanying Twilight that came with this version, so I am not sure what little changes/corrections may have been made. Not sure if I'm up for repeating the same story just yet though. I'll always love the entire Twilight series, but this was a great version, too.
