Description

On the "island of roses and ruins" - Gotland in the Baltic Sea - a shy librarian and a dashing FBI agent must work together to catch a killer and recover a priceless silver treasure in this sweetly romantic suspense novel from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jenna Bennett.

When Annika Holst's father dies, it's up to the young librarian to carry out his last will: to take his ashes back to his hometown, medieval Visby on the Swedish island of Gotland.

But no sooner does the plane touch down in Stockholm, than the bag with the cremains goes missing. A young American named Nick Costa comes to Annika's aid... but can she trust the handsome stranger? And what of Curt Gardiner, another young man from “back home,” also visiting his mother’s native Sweden?

To catch a murderer, recover her father’s ashes, and find a missing Viking treasure, Annika has to put her trust in one of them. But the wrong choice could mean not only the loss of her heart... but of her life as well.

This was a great read for anyone who likes mystery and romance. Like all of Jenna Bennett's books these characters were very likable. The book takes place in Europe which made the book even more interesting. All around great read.

What a cool Swedish mystery. I loved the setting and the characters. The FBI agent with his dark good looks and the lovely Annika Holst with her mission to return her Father's ashes to his homeland begin an adventure steeped in intrigue. Great chemistry amidst murders and an old museum theft complete with lost Viking treasure.

I really enjoyed this book. It does not start out as a mystery or a romance. It starts out as a young woman librarian, Annika, traveling to Sweden to bury her recently killed father's ashes. However, her bag is stolen, two men seen very interested in her and she does not know who to trust. One of the men, Nick actually works for the FBI and is following Annika because her father is suspected of stealing silver from a Swedish museum and killing a guard 30 years ago. He believes she may know where it is. Annika and Nick have undeniable chemistry and he finds it hard to believe she is involved in illegal activities. Another guy named Curt is interested in her but she is not attracted to him. After a couple of murders and the resolution to the 30 year old mystery, Annika finally is able to leave her father's ashes in his birthplace. A good romance with an healthy dose of a mystery with twists and turns I did not expect.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The places and scenery are described so beautifully it makes me want to see it for myself. The character developement was well done, the story well told. I didn't want to put the book down. I would gladly read more about Annika & Nick if there is another book at some point. I've enjoyed each book I've read from Jenna Bennett and this did not disappoint.

The only problem I had with this book is I couldn't put it down! I enjoyed Jenna's Cutthroat series with Rafe & Savannah and was hoping for the same chemistry in this book. Jenna didn't disappoint! Great dialogue, interesting characters, beautifully described scenery and a hot alpha male. All the makings of a great book!

Fun romance/mystery with likeable, interesting characters--like Jenna Bennett's characters always are. I always love a heroine who is smart but maybe not the ideal beauty who still gets the guy. Would definitely recommend.
