They called her Rabbit.
Patricia Williams (aka Ms. Pat) was born and raised in Atlanta at the height of the crack epidemic. One of five children, Pat watched as her mother struggled to get by on charity, cons, and petty crimes. At age seven, Pat was taught to roll drunks for money. At twelve, she was targeted for sex by a man eight years her senior. By thirteen, she was pregnant. By fifteen, Pat was a mother of two.
Alone at sixteen, Pat was determined to make a better life for her children. But with no job skills and an eighth-grade education, her options were limited. She learned quickly that hustling and humor were the only tools she had to survive. Rabbit is an unflinching memoir of cinematic scope and unexpected humor. With wisdom and humor, Pat gives us a rare glimpse of what it’s really like to be a black mom in America.

Inspiring!
5By LSWat83I heard about this book while watching Ms. Pat on “The Breakfast Club”. I just started watching her show on BET+ & I was intrigued. I purchased this book on a Thursday & I finished it 2 days later. Definitely an inspiring story. How Ms. Pat made it out was nothing more than a miracle. There’s no excuses for any of us!Funny and inspiring
5By MillermlyI loved every second of this book. It was so easy to read and I felt like I was listening to a friend tell me their life story.Rabbit

5By IrenaHAnyone who’s ever thought that they were “less than”, needs to read this book. The best line toward the end is that she figured out that a lot of folks have a story. We all (including me and my 6 sibs) could’ve ended up like Sweetie or dead. Ms Pat knew there was something else for her. So happy she found it.Unputdownable
5By JeciHI saw her interview on The Breakfast Club and HAD to hear more. Her book did not disappoint.❤️❤️❤️
5By ChiqureI love love love Ms.Pat, hearing your life got me interested in knowing more about how my parents and grandparents were raised. Hopefully I can actually put the work into doing what you have inspired me to do (I won’t spill the beans until it’s done or at least started). 5By DrewWife73This book was awesome! I too grew up in the hood and saw many things first hand what Ms Pat went through as a child. I didn’t personally go through the same but I watched it around me and by the time my third child was born, a son, I was even more determined than before to get out. Thank you, Ms Pat for sharing your story!Inspirational!
5By andievzMs. Pat is my absolute favorite comedienne. I’ve heard her stories time and time again but never in the way that they’re described in this book! This book makes you feel just about every emotion possible and gives you a better insight to the personality that is Ms. Pat. A great read! And if you enjoy Ms. Pats Comedy as much as I do, check out her podcast The Patdown!Awesome read! So real and page turning.
