Description

“What more could New York Times bestselling author Karen Hawkins’s fans desire” than the “sharp repartee, clever plotting, memorable characterization, and sizzling sexual tension” (RT Book Reviews) of her sparkling Oxenburg Princes fairy tale romance series?

Nikolai Romanovin, a royal prince of Oxenburg, has travelled to the deepest wilds of Scotland to rescue his grandmother the Grand Duchess, who was abducted while visiting an old friend in the Highlands. Wanting to avoid an international incident, Nik plans to quietly slip into enemy territory disguised as a groom at Castle Cromartie. But his plans go awry when he falls under the cool gray gaze of the laird’s daughter.

Pragmatic and clever, Ailsa Mackenzie has been left in charge of the family estate and her unruly grandmother in her father’s absence. Something about the new groom catches her eyes, and makes her think he’s not who he pretends to be—and even more shockingly, stirs her senses. Is it his obviously educated manners? His arrogant, non-servant-like presence? It’s certainly not his towering, powerful form, or slumberous, inviting green eyes!

After confronting the imposter and learning the truth, Ailsa agrees to help Nik—for she, too, understands difficult relatives and would do anything for family. Soon their secret partnership leads to growing respect, searing kisses, and then something far more perilous. And when their quest turns dangerous, Ailsa and Nik must discover this unknown enemy while facing the dangerous demands of their own unruly hearts.

Mad for Plaid is the third book in the Oxenburg Princes series and features the often mentioned Crown Prince Nikolai Romanovin, or Nik to those who really know him, and strong willed Scottish Lass Ailsa Mackenzie. She needs to prove that she’s capable of caring for her family home which becomes increasingly hard when two of her elderly guests, including the Grand Duchess Natasha Romanovin, are abducted. Nik is in the middle of tricky negotiations that require him to show the world his care-free, playboy Prince persona that is until his Tata Natasha is abducted and he must team up with Ailsa to save the prisoners and each other in the process. Hawkins always does such a wonderful job of creating a world you can see and feel and she out does herself with Mad for the Plaid; making you feel as if you are actually on the cold and snowy roads of Scotland with our rescue party. Her trademark wit and gift for characters that are so layered you instantly fall in love with them are on full display in this excellent story. She also throws in a mystery that will have you guessing until the very end. This is a must read for any Karen Hawkins fan!

Karen Hawkins has created another exciting and fun romance with mystery and suspense that keep you hooked throughout the book. Prince Nikolai is the heir of Oxenburg. He leaves his grandmother, Tata Natasha, with a friend in Scotland. While there his grandmother goes missing. Lady Alisa is the youngest Mackenzie. She is witty, smart and manages her fathers estate. When Tata Natasha goes missing from her family's estate, she decides to try and rescue her. She is my favorite heroine in this series. I laughed so much reading this book. The romance is sweet and the banter between them is witty and fun. I absolutely loved it. Mad For The Plaid is the third book in the Oxenburg Princes series by Karen Hawkins. It can be read as a stand-alone but I highly recommend the first two books in series (The Prince Who Loved Me and The Prince And I).

*I received an e-ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review* An enjoyable end to the charming Oxenburg Princes Series! Crown Prince Nikolai Romanovin drops his Tata Natasha off in the wilds of Scotland to visit a friend, and runs back to London. Tata is having none of this, as she is, once again, determined to pick the perfect mate for a stubborn grandson, so she manages to get a correspondence going between Lady Ailsa Mackenzie and Prince Nik. Unfortunately both take an instant dislike to the other, on paper, so it's up to Tata to come up with a way to get them to actually meet. When she is kidnapped, along with a charming Scot, Prince Nik and Lady Ailsa have to work together and share an arduous journey to try to pull off a rescue. Both Ailsa and Prince Nik are stubborn people, so they butt heads constantly. Can Ailsa get under the serious defenses Nik has constructed? Read it and find out, you won't be sorry.

This is an early review from NetGalley for release on August 30, 2016. Karen has written a good story that will go straight to your heart. She is one of my favorite authors. I have all of her books. This is a good series. Ailsa has been given the job of the Estate Manager. She is with her Grandmother and Cousin Gregor. They are hosting the Tata Natasha of Oxenburg. Then she leaves with no notice and gets kidnapped. Nicolas leaves to find his grandmother. Major Spoiler! For those who have read the previous books, she hasn't changed. Nik meets Ailsa and the bickering starts on who is the leader and who will come. Nil doesn't tell that he is being stalked and murdered. There are a lot of problems along the way. Spoilers. There are several ways he thinks who will try to get rid of him. Ailsa vows to help him. I liked this book. There is lots of action and you will come to love Tata Natasha. Spoiler. This will make you walk away a few times during your read. Don't pass this up. I hope you choose to read this story. You won't regret this! I have this book for an honest review for NetGalley.
