This book was amazing. I loved this book and it made me want to buy the other books. The book was descriptive, interesting, action-packed, thriller, and a real page-turner.

The story line is good. What I didn’t like was all the sex sexual innuendos, head kissing and “hot” talk. That is the part that was like a dime store novel. I would be interested in knowing how the story ends eventually, what “mum” is etc I just don’t think I could read through more of the teen sex.

The first book wasn’t too terribly well-written. For a book saying that Vampires aren’t a thing, it felt a lot like a weird crossover between X-men and Twilight (minus the goth themes and some of the moody-teenager drama). Also, the author seemed fond of telling, rather than showing in many places in book 1. Still, it wasn’t a horrible book, so I give book 1 ***. Book 2 was actually an improvement on the first book. The characters seemed less undeveloped, for lack of a better term. Also the plot was more substantial, the dialogue was more interesting and the way the magic system worked started making sense. Makes me cautiously optimistic for the rest of the series. I give book 2 ****, for an overall **** rating for the pair, since I can’t give 3.5 *s.
