Description

Most people know where they belong.

As an outcast, even among misfits, I'm not that lucky. It's fine. I don't need them. These walls I've built keep me safe.

Until they don't anymore.

With the rebellion under way, I have enough on my hands gaining my freedom. So when a dragon cracks the shield I've built around me, it brings forth the darkness contained within and awakens sensations I thought long dead. I do the only thing I know how—fight back.

I don't know if it'll be enough this time.

The walls around me are crumbling, and I struggle to keep myself safe. Am I doomed to repeat the mistakes of my past?

Pieces picks up where Destiny leaves off. Laz, as conflicted as ever, becomes more so, due to her growing relationship with Raikidan. Rai continues to learn about the human condition, but ends up with more questions than answers as the duo grow closer. Add to that the plethora of characters surrounding the pair, especially the effervescent Ryoko, and the fun never stops. Yet constant danger hangs over the lot of them, the rebellion forcing them to face mortal danger. Pieces is a tumultuous story, with twists and turns around every corner. The characters, richly portrayed to begin with, grow even more as the book unfolds. The chemistry between the main protagonists is even more intense, but they are not the only ones. Ryoko and Rylan prove to be an interesting pair as well. The author also delves deeper into the characters’ backgrounds, answering some questions along the way. It is an entertaining ride, sometimes adventurous, and other times just plain fun. Overall, Pieces hits the mark. At the end of the book, you find yourself wanting more.
