Description

A new dystopian/post-apocalyptic series from a New York Times bestselling author

My name is Theo, and I'm a resident of Oasis, the last habitable area on Earth. It's meant to be a paradise, a place where we are all content. Vulgarity, violence, insanity, and other ills are but a distant memory, and even death no longer plagues us.

I was once content too, but now I'm different. Now I hear a voice in my head, and she tells me things no imaginary friend should know. Her name is Phoe, and she is my delusion.

Or is she?

Note: This book contains some strong language. We felt it was important for the censorship theme of the novel. If such words offend you, you might not enjoy this book.

Got it as a deal I found and I couldn’t put it down. It really wraps you up in the action of it with many unexpected twists. The whole series is truly amazing and I love the idea of the dystopia it describes.

Begs to be compared to The City and the Stars by Clarke, and comes off very well! The action, the future science, the human hypocrisy, the protagonist’s gradual awakening - all are handled smoothly and tied together. Worth reading!

Too wordy and dragging conversations. Good idea but no thanks.

Amazing book, great characters, great detail, and just great attention to detail. I would recommend this to anyone who isn’t really into reading but has to.

Well thought out storyline, and an actual book that has been proofread. Thank you for taking the time to do both steps well.

Finally! An interesting book with an original story line that is not predictable! What a pleasure to read. I read it in one sitting which was a perfect way to spend my day. I recommend this to anyone who wants originality, intrigue and intelligence in a book.

I got this book on my new iPad. It was offered as a free read. So, I was shocked to find that I absolutely could not put it down. I loved it and will continue to read the rest of the series.

This is a wonderful read! No movie could do it justice as I pictured it in my mind but the entire time I couldn’t stop thinking about how good it would be as as a movie. Every page has a surprise!

I really enjoyed this book’s storyline and concepts. The banter is necessary, and some of these reviewers must not realize how difficult it is for an author to create dialogue inside someone’s head. First book I’ve finished in awhile, it’s hard to keep me engaged that long. Thinking about buying the next in the series!

Loved all of the weird twists and turns! With technology being what it is today, this is one of the most thought provoking reads of the decade! Can’t wait to afford more from this author as I am a ā€œFreeā€ only, book reader! Benefit of working for a state university! Reminiscent of ā€œReady Player 1ā€.
  • Intriguing

Fast moving but at the same time, felt dragged down. Fun read overall. Theo just kept asking the same questions over and over. That got old. However, in the end, a fun read and great concept for a sci fi.

This was one of those unknown stories that took me by surprise. I thought at first it was a kids story but then as I got into it, it became very intriguing. I really got into the Theo and Phoe connection, it was great to read their banter and to try figure out who Phoe really was. I loved it! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I immediately purchased the next book, more late nights!
