Description

Protecting her life will mean betraying her trust

Ainsley Hamilton has always been the responsible one of the family. As the oldest daughter of presidential candidate Buckmaster Hamilton, she's also a potential target. For months she's sensed someone following her. When an expedition to scout locations for a commercial takes a terrifying turn, she's rescued by a natural-born cowboy who tempts the good girl to finally let loose.

Sawyer Nash knows just how reckless it is to fall for someone he's gone undercover to protect. Yet masquerading as an extra on set, he starts to see beneath Ainsley's controlled facade. And with the election—and a killer—drawing closer, Sawyer stands to lose not just his job and his life but the woman for whom he'd gladly risk both.

  • A rollercoaster...not necessarily the good kind

At the start of the book I was intrigued. The as things picked up speed it became like a rollercoaster...one that gives you whiplash and motion sickness! Too many things are introduced too fast and the story kept jumping all over the place. Obviously it was the only way the author saw to introduce all the elements of this convoluted story. There are just too many disparate story elements here that just don't seem to jive with the base love story. Anarchist cults, stalkers, jewel thieves, amnesiacs, wiped memories, jealous ex...it's too many pieces thrown in to make the story work. After about 2/3 of the book was finished and things seem to go linear once again the suspense ratcheted up and I was anxious to see the conclusion. The investment I had at that point to see what was going to happen is why I upped the rating to four stars from where I would have had it based on the first 70% of the book. Clearly something the author did worked enough to make my pulse race for the conclusion. So if you can take the jumpy, scattered beginning and the disjointed story it ultimately makes for a suspenseful conclusion.

This was a good end to a really great series. Though I think there might be a spinoff in the future. With Election Day coming closer tension is high and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. Ainsley Hamilton's location search for the commercial company is about over then she'll be on her way home for the election night. Ainsley just can't shake the feeling she's being watched everywhere she goes. She mentions this to her hometown sheriff and with out her knowledge he asked his friend Sawyer Nash to go and keep an eye on her. Mistaken as an extra he blends in with the crew as cover. When the two meet there is an immediate connection and the romance begins. If you've never read BJ Daniels she brings in all the characters of the series so get the whole picture of what's going on with everyone in the story. I highly recommend this series and should be read in order. *Book Obsessed Chicks Review team
