West Berkeley - Visit Berkeley
  • Release Date: 2017-03-02
  • Genre: Travel in the United States

Description

With each passing year, West Berkeley continues to shed away a more industrial and automotive past, transforming into a local shopping and dining haven for neighborhood residents and visitors alike.

With ample amounts of warehouse space, microbreweries and urban wineries are moving in with tasting rooms, so that anyone who seeks to learn about the craft libation scene in Berkeley can experience how urban beer and wine is made locally. The geographic region of West Berkeley is quite large, and there are neighborhoods that can be explored on foot or bike. Fourth Street is known for high-end boutique shopping (mostly clothing and home goods) with a variety of restaurants to choose from, and a popular spot for a meal is Zut! Grab a coffee at Artís or experience a sake tasting at Takara Sake.

One of the main arteries in West Berkeley is San Pablo Avenue, which can be taken from one end of south Berkeley to the most northern part of Berkeley leading into Albany and El Cerrito. If you keep on driving on San Pablo, it will eventually bring you many miles north to the cities of Pinole and Hercules. San Pablo's stretch in Berkeley is filled with restaurants, shops, cafes, and bars. Longbranch Saloon, Paisan and Caffe Trieste are good places to fuel or refuel, and when you are done with the southern end of San Pablo, keep on walking north to an authentic German meal at Gaumenkitzel or incredible tapas and paella at La Marcha!
