Description

Before she was mother to global superstar Demi Lovato, she was just Dianna Hart.
Dianna tells her story from the very beginning in this complete and genuinely affecting memoir.

She had big plans of becoming a country music star, but her life went in a different direction than her dreams. She developed an eating disorder early in life to gain a sense of control in her strict upbringing. As she continued to struggle with body image and her obsession with being perfect her entire adult life, she was also met with other difficult situations. Her husband and father of her two eldest daughters, Dallas and Demi, had his own troubles that effected the entire family. She coped with alcohol and pills, forming a long-lasting addiction.

She's had terrible lows but also some great highs as she watched her daughters break out in Hollywood to become strong, empowered young women.

As a mother caring for daughters with addictions while continuing to battle her own, Dianna offers a unique perspective. And as a family, they have survived everything life has thrown at them and come away from it stronger than ever.

Dianna tells her story of living through and surviving adversity--with tremendous strength, love and faith.

Im not sure what led me to this book honestly but it really spoke to me. So much of her story had been my recent life from an abusive relationship complicated by substance abuse and mental health issues to divorce and starting over as a single parent. So many issues the people around me encouraged me to deal with privately. But people like Dianna opening up about difficult issues helps those facing these circumstances to speak up and get the help and support they need. It also serves as a reminder that these issues can be passed on and our children may be silently suffering as well. I applaud you Dianna in your bravery and honesty and willingness to share your story with the world!

This story is truly inspiring. I never knew of the struggles Dianna went through nor knew she went to treatment. Demi’s mom is truly inspiring, I am grateful for her to share her story and be open to converse about it. This is really deep.

I’ve never been a huge fan of reading, but I can say that once I started reading this book, I have not been able to put it down. Dianna, you are so honest and raw with everything you have been through in your life. I can relate to this book from Dallas and Demi’s point of view. Your strength and their strength is inspiring. Life isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it! Love you!

Dianna’s inspiring story of not only her struggles with herself but with motherhood is something that should inspire many to really examine oneself and their own story. I love how open she was with her experiences and how she was not shy to write about how her beliefs have played a role in her a children’s lives. Well written, gives you enough to understand her struggles.

I read the first chapter and couldn’t stop turning the page! Finished it in 5 hours without a dry eye. I’ve always been a Demi fan and followed her journey, but to know that her sister and mother have struggled with their own issues, and reading how they stuck together as a family tugged at my heart! The women in this family are the definition of a PHOENIX! Loved reading this from a different perspective! Great job Dianna and Vickie. Thank you all for being so raw and authentic and using your platform to educate those unfamiliar with these subjects and making it less taboo!
