Description

Running toward danger is about to become Rosie's full-time job.

When a grizzled stranger crashes into her life and lifts the concealment that has marred her face since childhood, Rosie Avalon leaves everything she knows behind. Pulled into a realm teeming with magical creatures, Rosie must navigate this new, broken world while avoiding capture by the evil queen, who knows there's more to Rosie than meets the eye.

Bastien is an Untouchable, feared and shunned by all but a handful of elite warriors. His realm has been ravaged by the evil queen's reign, but he will stop at nothing to save the land he loves, even if it means pushing Rosie past her breaking point.

Thrust into a quest that threatens to destroy her family, Rosie's path is clear: she must sacrifice all she holds dear to save a world on the brink of collapse, and hope she doesn't lose herself along the way.

If you like the twists and turns of a harrowing coming of age story, you'll love Ugly Girl, the first in a 14-part fantasy romance series written by USA Today Bestselling Author Mary E. Twomey.

I have read some pretty bad free books that you just have to stop reading before the first chapter is over but this train wreck-wow- I could not stop reading. Completely fascinated by how truly awful this was, could not believe it could get any worse but, tada it did! If the author has enough balls to put this disaster out there then I have enough guts to write this review, holy snikes! A fourth grader telling a tale to second graders (because third graders are a little to sophisticated and will notice nothing makes sense) using high school vocabulary and middle school romance. If that is what this author set out to do then she hit it out of the ballpark.

Nicely written book. Interesting plot line showing original thought with more twists than a pretzel.

Great book, I would definitely recommend it. Thumbs up, this shouldn’t be free, it’s a great read. 🤡

This book is poorly written and advances the ever too prevalent misogynistic views that are issues in this world. Especially if this book is geared towards young women, yeesh. The main romance is abusive and the characters are unrealistic and unbelievable. That being said, I read the whole thing. It was a train wreck that I couldn’t look away from. I couldn’t predict what was going to happen, maybe due to the inconsistent tone and prose throughout. There were many twists that had no place in the book, and I was curious as to how many the author would throw in there before she got tired. I kept reading to see if it would get better, which it never did. It was really bad. But like, free of charge. So, if you want something mind numbing while simultaneously painful, this is the book for you.

This book was a delightful read. The protagonist is funny, charming, and strong. It’s a good series for teen girls because Rosie has such a sense of who she is and her self worth, which is not often the case in teen fiction. I was especially and happily surprised that the story is told without any of the filthy language that is so popular in books these days. Seriously, not one cuss word, and I’m starting on the third book. The author proves that a good story can be told without nasty language. The only drawback, as another reviewer has mentioned, is that the series does go on and on. That seems to be a trend these days. Authors need to take note...you CAN give your story an ending. Some of us don’t really appreciate a never ending saga.

This first book was so intriguing and fun! I can’t wait to get to the and the next...etc. BUT! This rating went from 5 stars down to two, because of 2 things that aren’t made known up front. One: There are many, many more books to this series. Two: And this knocked it down to three...You have have to pay for each book thereafter.
  • I still can’t believe a book was written about me!👌🏼
