Description

Fall for the steamy off-limits romance, perfect for fans of Lauren Asher, Hannah Grace, and Tessa Bailey!

Liam Callahan is devastatingly handsome, infuriatingly aloof and… my new boss? Put that at the top of the list of ‘Things I Wish I’d Known (Before I Was Panting in His Arms During a Sizzling Midnight Make-out Session.)’

My bartending gig at Rascals was supposed to be a fresh start for me. Now I’m juggling drink orders AND red-hot sexual tension - but I refuse to let Liam’s smoldering stares throw me off my game…

Until one late night leads to another. And another. Liam has a reputation as Mr Heartbreaker, but he’s revealing a whole new side of himself: funny, playful, and most definitely NSFW. But this rascal has made a rule of never getting in too deep, and despite the real connection between us, something’s holding him back.

Can we find a way to put the past behind us and move on? Or will my new beginning end in heartbreak before it’s even begun?

Find out in the hot new stand-alone romance from Katie McCoy!

This is the first time I’ve read one of Katie’s books, and I’m so glad I found her! I have already purchased the entire series and can’t wait to go back and read the earlier stories and learn about the last two friends in books 4 and 5!!

I love Katie’s style of writing. And her story line leading to the HEA is the best. When you read Katie’s books, you become part of the story, it’s like you’re sitting there watching it happens. It’s so relatable and real, even though you know your reading a work of make believe fictional characters. I love all the books in the series that I’ve read and can’t wait to read the next 1. Liam is so hot and gorgeous and Juliet is a strong woman who was forced to retire early but instead of moping around, she went out and explored new adventures. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ it!!!!!!

Not a fan of this book 👎🏼 -Boring couple - repeating her feelings about being a retired ballerina got old real quick - lack of chemistry, vanilla boring ‘$ex’ scenes -Liam gets adventurous & wears a tie with a pattern 😐 Juliet gets crazy eating at food trucks 😮 it’s a wild time - they’re together for 3 weeks, he gets a dream job offer & she’s soo offended... beotch why would anyone risk their dreams for a 3 week relationship? - there’s too much ‘tell’ & not enough ‘show’ - the schmaltziness of the entire group is gross. There’s no friction, everything is saccharine. It’s not real, it’s too fake, too unbelievable.

Disclaimer: ARC received in exchange for an honest review Heartbreaker is book three in the Rascals series by author Katie McCoy. The novels in this series follow a group of five best friends as they navigate love, life, liqueur, and the singles scene in Chicago, and it comes as no surprise to readers familiar with McCoy that each installment in the series ups the ante. Heartbreaker introduces us to Liam, the third member of this group of buddies. Liam is best friends with the series’ previous male protagonists, Emerson and Chase, and future book protagonists, Sawyer and Dante. In addition to his all-consuming career, Liam manages the financial aspects of Rascals, the newly-opened local watering hole owned by the five friends. Far from a free-spirit, Liam is an anal-retentive control freak obsessed with rules, order, and plans. Enter Juliet, a former ballerina, who is searching for purpose after an injury brings about her career’s untimely end. The formerly regimented and structured Juliet decides to throw caution to the wind, kissing strangers in bars and learning to sling drinks in said stranger’s bar. After a kismet meeting at Rascals, Liam and Juliet continue to cross paths; despite their obvious differences, the two are seemingly unable to deny the chemistry and attraction between them. There was a nice, organic quality to the development of the relationship between Liam and Juliet and this certainly speaks to the strengths of McCoy as an author. The only issue I take with Liam and Juliet’s romance is that they were really ineffective communicators, and although it’s not a major flaw, this is an issue I have with many of McCoy’s books. I don’t want to be talked to death, but rarely do McCoy’s characters “lay it all out there.” Because of the first-person, alternating points-of-view, the reader is privy to tons of the characters’ internal struggles, but at some point, it would be nice if the inner monologue spurred some actual dialogue. Because of this, it seemed as though some of the getting-to-know-you stage of the relationship was glossed over in favor of chemistry—which sizzled off the pages—and sexcapades (which were H.O.T.). Even though Chase is probably still my favorite protagonist (so far), this was still a great read. It was quick, engaging, well-developed, can be read as a stand-alone or as part of the series, and would easily be an attractive read for fans of the romance genre.

Heartbreaker was another fun book in the Rascals Series! Book 3 is the story of Liam and Juliet a true opposites attract couple. Liam is perfection. Perfect hair, perfect suit, perfect job. He likes everything perfect including his women. But Juliet is about to throw his entire world upside down. Juliet is taking a chance and changing her life. No longer living by strict rules and regimen, she sets out to have a little fun when she meet Liam. I really enjoyed the story of Juliet and Liam! I loved how Juliet slowly got Liam to open up and all the ways he made Juliet more comfortable with herself without even knowing it. Their banter was witty and sexy, their friends were also extremely enjoyable and overall this was just a fun book! Once again, this was another quick and sexy read! I look forward to the next book in the series!
  • Perfect addition to the series

Heartbreaker is the third book in the Rascals series. It can be read as standalone but I do recommend reading the previous books either before or after this one. They are so much fun! I just love this group of bar owners and the women who tame them. Juliet needs a fresh start. Liam needs to take the stick out of his a-. She has to adjust to her new life without dance. She wants to be spontaneous, eat carbs, and have fun past nine p.m. He has set his goals years ago. He doesn’t like surprises. Juliet is the ultimate surprise. One he didn’t see coming. Liam has a type and Juliet definitely was not it but he wanted her. He didn’t want to want her but there was just something about her that made him going back for more. It started as a kiss. One that turned into one night then two. Until...he couldn’t stay away. She made him laugh. She made him think. She made him lose control. She scared him. He has never felt this way toward a woman but she was not who he was looking for in a partner. Can he let go of control and take a risk? A risk on her. A risk on himself. A risk for them or will he keep looking for Miss Perfect on Paper? I love Liam! I might even have a girl crush on Juliet. I loved seeing all the sides of him with her. He just has this sexiness to him with his suit and tie. And his hotness in his workout gear. But my favorite was when he laughed. Juliet did that to him. She was infectious. The way she was letting go of his own routine type of life. It was so fun! Overall...it was the perfect addition to the series! It’s funny, smart, emotional, and sexy. The characters are lovable. The friendships are amazing. The writing is addicting. I can’t wait for the next book. Sawyer is going to be knocked on his a-. Quotes: “It was a last-minute request.” I put the pie on the counter and turned to face him. “A request?” he asked, putting his hands on the counter, on either side of my hips. “I was pretty sure that was a demand.” “Is everyone pairing up?” one of the guys—the one I assumed was Sawyer—asked. “You can be Dante’s date,” Liam teased. “I don’t put out,” Dante replied dryly. My world had become bigger, just because she’d walked into it. And that scared me.
