Description
ONE OF TIME MAGAZINE'S 100 BEST MYSTERY AND THRILLER BOOKS OF ALL TIME • BOOKER PRIZE NOMINEE • “A taut and darkly funny contemporary noir that moves at lightning speed, it’s the wittiest and most fun murder party you’ve ever been invited to.” —MARIE CLAIRE
Korede’s sister Ayoola is many things: the favorite child, the beautiful one, possibly sociopathic. And now Ayoola’s third boyfriend in a row is dead, stabbed through the heart with Ayoola’s knife.
Korede’s practicality is the sisters’ saving grace. She knows the best solutions for cleaning blood (bleach, bleach, and more bleach), the best way to move a body (wrap it in sheets like a mummy), and she keeps Ayoola from posting pictures to Instagram when she should be mourning her “missing” boyfriend. Not that she gets any credit.
Korede has long been in love with a kind, handsome doctor at the hospital where she works. She dreams of the day when he will realize that she’s exactly what he needs. But when he asks Korede for Ayoola’s phone number, she must reckon with what her sister has become and how far she’s willing to go to protect her.

5By NeypoppsLove itA great read with an abrupt end
5By JT MusicI recently finished reading "My Sister, the Serial Killer" and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The book is a compelling read, distinguished by its well-crafted narrative and sharply defined characters. Each character is attractively portrayed, making them easy to understand and connect with. One of the most captivating aspects of the book is its setting in Nigeria, which adds a rich cultural layer to the story. Through the characters and their interactions, I gained insights into Nigerian culture and societal norms, making the reading experience both educational and intriguing. The plot is well-paced and maintains suspense throughout. However, the ending felt a bit abrupt. Just as the sister returns with another man, hinting at a continuation of her deadly pattern, the story concludes. It would have been interesting to delve deeper into what happens next, adding more depth to the conclusion. Overall, "My Sister, the Serial Killer" is a very good book—well written, engaging, and enjoyable. Oyinkan Braithwaite's writing is crisp and effective, making this novel a highly recommended read for those who enjoy thrillers with a cultural twist.Unusual story

4By chechel252i was a little uninterested with this story at first, but i found myself emphasizing with korede and enjoyed her talks with the sleeping patient. a real head scratcher. i’ll most likely reread.Interesting
5By Cars2345Quick read. Something different.I have no idea what the lesson of this book is. Certainly not that the truth matters.
2By ReadRideRunMaybe a sequel is coming, but what a depressing ending. Not captivating
1By LolaBee15A slow read, took me a while to finish. Expected so much more from the title. Repetitive story line and very lackluster ending. Too many unanswered questions.Hilarious
5By DoughgalRead it then read it again. What spare prose! The characters! The wit!Just ok.
2By Thandie SimoneNothing exciting, captivating or mysterious. Just a story. A set up for an undoubtedly blah sequel.Clever and satisfying
5By solve4lifeI enjoyed this book immensely. It finds both humor and tragedy in the lives of two sisters who are intensely real and extraordinary. Very dense for a quick and easy read.Three Really Good Stars (Could Have Easily Been Five)
3By OzcromeThis could have been a great book. I read it in about 5 to 6 hours because once I started, I couldn’t put it down. Like other reviewers, I also thought the ending needed work. In fact, the ending seemed lazy like the author lost interest and took the easy way out by ending several plot lines abruptly and without proper resolution. This observation seems consistent with the length of the book. At less than 250 pages, the book is short, perhaps because it lacks a proper ending.I like the pace, the ending left me scratching my head
3By App-preciationPerhaps I’m too married to the western cultural endings of happiness, lesson learned or justice prevails. This book’s story flowed like the Grand Rapids, but just as I thought there was going to be a massive waterfall or a beautiful tranquil lake that I could gently take in a massive inhale and release all that I’ve digested for the purpose of the novel, there I was just sitting in my raft. The rapids stopped, there was no real end, other than the notion that ... and it all begins again - possibly. As far as the writing itself, I loved it. The dialects shared of each character really gave authenticity and emotion with the dialogue. I also enjoyed the characters immensely. I was torn between the two sisters as I appreciated their bond. I appreciated the hard working and motherly love of Korede. I wanted her happiness and hoped she was able to allow her sister Ayoola to experience responsibility for her actions. But I felt her struggle with not being able to care for herself as much as she needed to care for her little sister. And while she chastised everyone else for putting Ayoola on a pedestal, she too was in that same club. The book was consistent in their affection to each other. The story itself was gripping. I liked the book a whole lot. Just fell short of me loving it. a good read while I was on vacation this week. Good job Oyinkan Braithwaite.
