#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
What do you do when God’s timing seems questionable, his lack of intervention hurtful, and his promises doubtful? Lysa TerKeurst unveils her heart amid shattering circumstances, inviting you to live assured when life doesn't turn out like you expected.
Life often looks so very different than we hoped or expected. Some events may simply catch us off guard for a season, but others shatter us completely. We feel disappointed and disillusioned at best and overwhelmed and hopeless at worst. We quietly start to wonder about the reality of God’s goodness and why he allows us to suffer and experience grief and loss.
Lysa TerKeurst understands this deeply. But after many tears, godly counseling, and prayerful seeking, she's also discovered that our disappointments can be the divine appointments our souls need to radically encounter God. In It's Not Supposed to Be This Way, Lysa invites us into her own journey of faith and, with grit, vulnerability, and honest humor, helps us to:
Stop being pulled into the anxiety of disappointment by discovering how to better process unmet expectations and other painful situations.Train ourselves to recognize the three strategies of the enemy, so we can stand strong and persevere through unsettling relationships and uncertain outcomes.Discover the secret of being steadfast and not panicking when God actually does give us more than we can handle.Shift our suspicion that God is cruel or unfair to the biblical assurance that God is protecting and preparing us.Know how to encourage a friend and help her navigate hard realities with real help from God's truth, the Bible.

5By TSDFSNRNRLFEFTVRTVMSo much that I like about this book!Good Cry
5By NiklodgI cried from page one through the epilogue. What wonderful wisdom and insight this author gives and it was the perfect time in my life to choose to read this book. The lessons seemed to be coinciding with my real life. At the end of each chapter was a place for self reflection. She brought the reader into her thoughts and forced you to take a look at your life and ponder yourself for a moment. Instead of it being just a great story, it was a great way to pull the chapter closer to yourself and be a part of the lesson.inspiration

5By pocahontas432Good bookHard to read
2By Avery&BennettSome of the messages are very good and helpful. A lot of the book was hard to read, though. The authors writing style made it difficult to relate to. I almost gave up reading it.It’s not supposed to be this way
5By teg318This book was awesome. This book was enlightening. This book would have you on edge of seat reading past book club. It would have you saying whoa or wow and really looking and trying to understand your own stuff. What does Adam and Eve have to do with it
1By Beckv09I really like the author’s talented writing ability and I genuinely felt for her personal struggles, but my goodness, “Adam and Eve” this and this and that, “dust to clay” over and over....”why did God do this?” “How could he let this happen?”, SERIOUSLY? I couldn’t keep reading. It’s not supposed to be this way
5By ocean600Outstanding book, I could not put it down. This is a book you will read more than once.page 99.
5By Kokes003Gods presence is definitely in this book. So glad I made this purchase back at TheRock church SD. Not quite done with this book and i’m in no rush. This book by far is helping get through what I am currently going through. Every word, every page, every scripture hits home. I AM NOT ALONE. Thank you, Lysa for reminding me and others that getting through the next 86,400 seconds we are not alone and Jesus is walking with us EVERY step if we keep our focus on him. THANK YOU!A Must Read
5By Shuana HackworthIf you are in a place where life is falling apart and you are walking through something that you thought would never be the way it is then this book is for you. Lysa navigates this book with love and compassion. As you read you these pages you will know that you are not alone. Your it’s not supposed to be this way may not be a broken marriage like hers was the principles of the book fit any life situation. The book has Eleven chapters with reflection questions, cling to statements from the chapter and a prayer. The book is not something that you will want to speed through but process. This quote from the Lysa summed the book up for me though it was in chapter two “Dust doesn’t have to signify the end. Dust is often what must be present for the new to begin.”
