Description

"Enlightening and empowering..."

Experience is an asset.

That’s what Nina Fontaine’s best friend tells her when she moves from the suburbs to New York City following her divorce. As much as Nina appreciates the dating advice, she’s not interested. At forty-five, she’s spent the last fifteen years trying to fit in as a suburban wife. Now she just wants to settle into her new apartment, find a job that will stretch her savings, and figure out what the rest of her life is going to look like.

But that’s before she meets Liam McAlister.

A photojournalist who’s traveled the globe, Liam is gorgeous and smart — not to mention fifteen years younger than Nina.

And he isn’t the only man vying for Nina’s attention.

Rich and powerful, Jack Morgan is Liam’s polar opposite. In spite of Nina’s protests, Jack rolls out the big guns to court her, from black tie galas to last minute trips to Paris.
Both men are determined to win her. As they contribute to her reinvention in different way, Nina begins to walk a very unfamiliar tightrope. When their passion escalates to a shocking climax, Nina must accept that she may have fallen too hard, too soon — and make a decision that will change her life forever.

I actually enjoyed reading this book. It was a bit familiar to a few others I've read but different enough to keep me reading. It wasn't crazy hot, but fun and light - a bit more realistic. Well written with only a few minor mistakes.

First time reading this author, but it won’t be the last. A very different and well written romance. Guess I have become too old, but some of the body part language kind of turns me off, but again, I enjoyed the book and I am moving on to the other two books in the series.

Very refreshing, relatable and honest! This was most unexpected and Michelle did a marvelous job introducing us to Nina. Nina is a middle age divorcée navigating a new life and trying to discover who Nina Fontaine is. Caught up in a comfortable married life in the suburbs, she completely lost herself and cannot identity with anything now that she’s single again. Everything seems frightening and intimidating but she’s trying to regain or at least rediscover herself. Meeting two very different, handsome, charming men puts her already confused life into a tail spin and she’s now left wondering is it worth it to put yourself out there and take chances. Both men made her feel amazing things she never felt before but with two men, Nina is overwhelmed and she’s now discovering it’s time to focus on Nina. Can’t wait to see her next adventure and how her interaction with these two men will impact their lives. Awesome read and it’s a story that you can relate to.

I want more of Nina Fontaine!!!! I love this book. I love that this is a book about a middle aged woman. It makes it more realistic. However, this book is a good read for any woman, older or young, married or single. Any woman can empathize with the main character and what she goes through, because let’s face it, we’ve all been there. Michelle is a great writer. Her characters make you laugh and cry. I can’t wait until the second book, The Surrender of Nina Fontaine.

She has friends and she end up dating two completely different men. Liam makes her feel safe and secure and is younger then Nina. Jack is much older and can give her the world but he is dominating and is a non emotions kind a guy. Jack is into very different sexual experiences and Nina is willing to try but will it last? She tells both men about her seeing them both at the same time. Will Nina awaken to find the happiness she is looking for in either of these men? The author Michelle St James really captured the story of an older women in this book. She writes with such passion that you feel like your her characters when reading her books. Another great book and I can’t wait for the second story about Nina!!!!

I was waiting patiently for this book and it was worth the wait. From the first page to the last I could relate to Nina Fontaine. Recently divorced, at 45, Nina moves to Brooklyn to begin her new life. Her circle of friends, a new job, and two very different men take her to places she never expected. I can’t wait for Book 2 to continue Nina’s journey of self discovery. Thank you Michelle for this spectacular beginning.

I’m so happy to read a book that breaks the cookie cutter mold that most romance novels follow. Nina is a 45 year old divorced woman who moves into the city and is trying to discover herself after 20 years in a failed marriage. She meets Liam, the younger, full of life photographer, and Jack, the older, dominating business man. Can she choose between the two, or does she choose herself for once? Michelle hit it out of the ball park with this one and I cannot wait for the next book to come out to see how Nina progresses in life.
