Description

All credit cards have stopped working.  Today.  This morning.
What cash you have in your wallet is it.  ATMs and bank systems are down. You can’t get gas, groceries…  Commerce has essentially come to a halt.  Such is the backdrop of THE BACK DOOR MAN.
Our society is computercentric.  Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn.  We’re plugged in.  Managing our finances online.  Downloading apps for our iPhone.  Reading the WSJ on our Kindle.
There are things out there on the cutting edge we don’t even know we need to fear.  THE BACK DOOR MAN takes us there.
We see it through the eyes of James Kolinsky, a simple family man who works in information security.  His day goes from bad to worse when he discovers that his greatest fear is his fault and what’s happened to him has happened to millions of others.
He’s been set up.  His family—make that the world—has been taken hostage.  The next twenty-four hours we find out what James Kolinsky is really made of.

Lots of computer technical jargon which I loved! I was thinking and piecing together in my head! Well done plots.

Back to crime for me today! I like the puzzles, this one was a bit outside my wheelhouse but turned into a fast paced, down and out getter done Rumpus! I enjoyed it immensely! I also enjoyed this book tremendously though Cyber Crime is not usually my wheelhouse. My eldest son does Cyber Security and drives me wild telling me how badly my computer security is from his perspective. Im old and didn't grow up with this so it is not automatic with me!

This book packs a punch from beginning to end. I really enjoyed how the hero was one you least expected. When the time came for him to step up, he did. Couldn’t put the book down. Great read from start to finish. Very knowledgeable and detailed on what could potentially happen with the world being so dependent on technology.
  • Pretty good for amateur

I was surprised by this book. Action packed. It grabbed and didn’t let go. Needs professional editing. With proper editing it could be a best-seller.

Lots of excitement and suspense. Had my heart pumping pretty good a few times. If you love computer lingo/programming and finance, you will really enjoy this book.

Amazing story-writing about a common, ordinary muddle management guy who was severely underestimated. One good guy against a myriad of evil forces, all willing to step on him to feed their own greed—until things begin to go wrong, fall apart and they are turned on each other, manipulated by the one they’d chosen as victim.
  • Confusing Ending

It was such a great read until the ending. What happened to James? Why the mystery? These type of books just piss me off.

Very good. Technical stuff well explained or at least well enough! Interesting. Great to have the woman standing up and a seemingly average man dig deep and stand tall.

This is one of those books that you just cannot put down! Although if you must, you’ll keep thinking about it all the time. It does have some confusing parts, as the technical talk can be a bit much at certain points, but it’s understandable for the character to get so deeply involved in what he does. This book will keep you guessing what will happen all the way to the end, all the while wishing for something good to finally happen to James.
