The story evolved with a good pace and when I had to put it down, I thought about the characters and their personalities. It came to a sad but logical end, and I would recommend this to my reading friends.Loved it

5By Jewel....I read this book in 24 hours. I never do this. The way she wrote this story…just wow. The way I loved a character in one moment and hated them on the next page. This book has depth. Each character has depth. I’m going in search of more books written by this author, but I’m very sad to leave this one behind. This story will stay with me for a good while.Pretty good

5By Rebec49I thought this book would be about a mother-in-law hating her daughter in law but it was so much more. The characters were so well developed you got to know them with all their quirks. This book is about complicated family dynamics and a bit of mystery thrown in. I enjoyed this read from beginning to end.Good Read

5By ArtymusicianI really enjoyed reading this book, especially having the perspectives of both Lucy and Diana. Without knowing Diana’s trauma as a teenager, I would have disliked her even more than I did. I think she did well considering the cruel treatment by her own mother. Promising children an inheritance is always a mistake since no one knows what may happen in the future. She was kinder to strangers than to her own children. While her thinking is right that the best things in life are free, offering financial, moral, and emotional support to others just to help with bumps in the road could have made a huge difference. Did she and her husband really need the biggest house and beach house? Or the fanciest car? Instead of promising an inheritance, why not share her life story? Ask Nettie to adopt a child from the Orchard House or similar place if they still exist in 2020!The Mother In Law
