  • Cute story but...

I'm a fan of Zoe's books and this was just as cute and lighthearted a story as the rest however there were tons of details here that irked me throughout the entire story, making it hard to relate to. Most of this comes from the fact that the story takes place in New York City yet everyone speaks in British phrasing and terminology. I understand when the lead character does it but the other characters are American and wouldn't speak that way or use cm instead of feet and inches. Also she refers a couple of times to a time difference of five hours between New York and Cornwall but she had it backwards, stating that Cornwall was five hours behind New York. Yes, I totally get how nit-picky this is but it happened so often, literally the entire story, plus numerous typos (not referring to British spellings), words repeated, etc. It just made the story unbelievable. You can't connect to characters who are clearly not speaking the way the character should be speaking but instead speaks the way the author would be speaking. So the story was nice, pleasant enough for a lazy Sunday read, but the characters didn't feel relatable.Daselain
