Description

A prequel to the scorching paranormal romance, The Boss.

Maddie Thompson’s life just fell down a rabbit hole. Finding out she's a dragon shifter was one thing—she never quite fit into the human world, and this new reality feels…strangely right. However, discovering the next step is to choose a mate, and if she chooses wrong she'll die, is the other side of crazy. Especially when she already left a piece of her heart with someone who didn't want it.

To say dragon enforcer Fallon Conleth was shocked when the Mating Council summoned him as a potential mate for a newly found dragon doesn’t quite cover it. A mate is rare and precious and many dragons never find theirs. Fallon isn’t sure he’s worthy of the honor, not when so many deserve it more. He’ll just go through the motions and return home alone…until he sees Maddie. The human woman he reluctantly let walk away.

Fallon already broke Maddie's heart once, but if he can't convince her that they're meant to be, she'll die... and he won't be far behind.

Each book in the Fire's Edge series is STANDALONE:
* The Mate (prequel)
* The Boss
* The Rookie
* The Enforcer
* The Protector
* The Traitor

    Such a good, quick read. I’d say the pacing is a little too quick but it was really good.

    I’m a sucker for paranormal romances. This was cute and exciting but not overly sexual and sometimes that’s ok, right?

    Interesting plot twist and a decent story line. Far too short, now I need an omnibus of the entire series!

    I absolutely love dragon stories, maybe because I was born in the year of the dragon (Chinese zodiac). Who knows?! I loved that the main characters had some history as ‘humans’ before their supernatural meeting. I loved the dragon transformation and the mating process. That definitely hot! Also, I enjoyed the main characters’ personalities; Fallon wasn’t obnoxious and arrogant as most male mates are written. Maddie was level headed and smart. There comedy, romance, a little suspense and not overly erotic. A perfect blend for my taste. This was a very short story therefore the timeline was rushed. There were a few grammatical and typographical errors, but not off putting. Maybe the characters would have been more developed if the book was longer. Overall, a good read.

    This book was amazing yesss. It was so good and kind of short that I finished not happily in 2 days. If you are interested in fantasy and romance this book is the perfect choice.

    Most of the books with shapeshifters in them are mostly all ROMANCE! Like DUDE. DO SOMETHING OTHER THAN ROMANCE AND IF YOU CAN DO A GRAPHIC NOVEL AT THAT! I mean here’s what some people are probably thinking: “Oh, how ORIGINAL. Another shifter romance!” Just do something DIFFERENT FOR ONCE! Like jeez it’s not that hard bro.

    Looking forward to the next book in the series. Not to overdone, just the right mix of fantasy, steamy, drama and good characters.

    It was a great book but I’d love to read another continuing the story for Maddie and Fallon.

    The book was very weird and inconsistent. The storyline and summary were executed very differently. The only good thing was the summary paragraph.
