Description
Lisa Hodges needs to make a decision fast. Thanks to her dead husband’s gambling addiction, their savings is almost gone. In her early fifties with a large, waterfront home on Nantucket to support, Lisa hasn’t worked in over thirty years, has no in-demand skills and is virtually unemployable.
.
Her only options are to sell the house and move off-island, or, she could use her cooking and entertaining skills and turn her home into a bed and breakfast. She desperately needs it to succeed because she has four grown children with problems of their own and wants to stay close to them.
her oldest daughter, Kate, has a fabulous career in Boston--working as a writer for a popular fashion magazine and engaged to a dangerously handsome, photographer, who none of them have met.
.
Kate's twin, local artist, Kristen, has been reasonably content with her on-again off-again relationship with an older, separated businessman.
.
Her son, Chase, runs his own construction business and is carefree, happily dating here and there but nothing serious.
.
Youngest daughter, Anna, is happily married to her high school sweetheart, and they've been trying to have a baby. But it hasn't happened yet, and Anna wonders if it's a sign that maybe their marriage isn't as perfect as everyone thinks.
.
Come visit Nantucket and see how Lisa's new bed and breakfast has an impact on almost everyone in her family. It's the first book in a new series that will follow the Hodges family, friends, and visitors to Nantucket's Beach Plum Cove Inn.
Reviews
Easy read but interesting
5By Fischer567I liked the simple story kept my attentionNeeds some editing
3By Book AceThis book has typos, including names of various characters switching, which made it feel like a draft rather than a finished product. In one place, there was a placeholder for a name marked as “X.” Also, the plot was mostly the characters eating, either at the house or a restaurant, without much other activity going on. I felt like much of this book was describing the food they were eating rather than getting back to the slow moving, predictable plot.Great read!
5By hearthstone readerI love when things turn out well after sad beginnings. The was a great escape book for me!This was great book
5By ClMcfaRead it in 2-3 days couldn’t put it down.A great book
5By grandmapphotocrazCan’t wait to continue the series.Great read
3By Susanj7I loved the characters and the flow of the stories of the family members . I did notice that there were mistakes in the characters being referenced and several grammatical errors as well . Poor proofreading/editing . Otherwise I would have rated the book higher .The Nantucket Inn
5By rjborWhat a wonderful story. A tight knit family, That after loosing a husband/father became even closer and with the Mom, needing to make a better living, ventured into a different territory with the help of family and friends. So hard to put down. One of the best stories I have read. Love Nantucket, was fortunate to visit. TY.Good read
5By WytesealGreat story. Took me a bit to get the names straight, but once I did I thoroughly enjoyed the adventures of Lisa and her kids. I liked how Lisa and Rhett just kind of let things flow that was the best part for me.Who is your Publisher?
2By tdchfvghbjguvyThe book, and the storyline, are wonderful. Why, though, are there so many mistakes throughout the story? Did anyone even proofread this?! Seriously. It was painful. SO many mistakes.Fun read.
5By BJHPeachesGreat characters. Looking forward to the series.A nice read if you can overlook the typos
4By PosiTude LivingIt took me a while to get into the story because the characters names and pronouns were mixed up so,often. And many, many sentences ended in question marks, which made it seem as if the author were unsure of what she was writing. But all of those errors disappeared in the second half of the book as it hit its stride. Then I could relax and enjoy the story.Nantucket
4By Gfd2015I thoroughly enjoy the book it was fun and a lot of fast paced reading. However I believeI am on my fourth or fifth book now and the editing on the books leaves something to be desired. Somebody reached for a card in his pocket and instead of pulling out a card the editing on it was car. One of the boyfriends was wrong in another of the books. It’s still fun but I’ve never seen this type of poor editing.Sophomoric writing
1By Lincoln906The plot is trite, utterly predictable. This book has not even been edited properly! There are blatant errors such as substituting one character’s name for another. (The author literally forgot which sister was the artist! )The author can’t seem to remember what she wrote several pages earlier, describing a character wearing a long sleeved dress on one page, and two pages later placing her in opera gloves! There are many typos as well. I would not read anything else written by this author.INN-Credible
5By Jcena32400Fabulous, fantastic, awesome, amazing ! Absolutely Great Excellent job! Thank YouThe Nantucket Inn
3By gweneethInteresting read. Thanks gA light, easy read
3By pumpkinkid715The story was fine, but the number of typing errors and incorrect names became a little annoying. Hopefully the next one in the series was more thoroughly proofread.Easy read.
3By SquidgymomNice easy read, but predictable. Someone needs to check it again and edit a little better. Several typos and a character was mis-named on one page.Nantucket Inn
5By Rosland SkiffLoved this story. Couldn’t stop reading it. The characters are “come to life” as the story unfolds. I highly recommend this book.Enjoyable story but...
3By pejogoI enjoyed the story but was frustrated with the many errors. Not just typographical errors, but name changes, confusing one character with another, time details (rental for Rhett - initially Lisa was excited that the booking was for a week, then the story says she couldn’t believe her first rental was for a month). It makes me wonder if there was an editor. Other than the frustrating errors, the story was the pleasant and characters were engaging.
