Description

He was her kidnapper and became her salvation. She was a thief and became his queen. The minute Nicky Tarnovsky walks into my bar, I know he’s trouble. He’s not another playboy businessman in search of a casual hookup. Behind his bedroom eyes lurks the cold cunning of a brutal man. The attraction between us is instant, undeniable, and explosive. I’ve always been messed up that way, loving the wrong guy and suffering the consequences. My world turns upside down when Nicky delivers me to a Colombian cartel as payment for a debt. Inside the idyllic walls of a tropical compound, we become playthings to the psychotic whims of the beautiful Valentina. She’s bent on destroying our self-respect with her dirty, sadistic mind games. Soon it’s obvious that Nicky is as much her victim as I am. Any minute, I expect to die, and it’s all his fault. I should hate him for bringing this hell to my doorstep. I should consider him my enemy. However, the only thing I can think about is crawling into his arms after the torture. The longer we’re held captive together, the more my feelings become twisted. What should’ve been our first kiss might be our last. I don’t care that he’s a criminal. He’s the only thing holding me together. What they don’t know is that I’ve only begun to fight.

I was thrilled about Nicky’s story. He is one of those guys you want to hate but really can’t. I’m glad I got a chance to read this book. I totally enjoyed it.

I’ve loved Nicky since the first book. The way the story unfolded was great. Would’ve loved for Nicky and Calliope’s story to be more in-depth but I’ll take it as it is. On to the next series. 😂

This book features the character Nicky from the The Exiled Prince trilogy, and also the Royal Arrangement and Rebel Queen. If you have not picked those up yet, I highly suggest the read! I disliked Nicky intensely when he was introduced in the Exiled Prince series. Jeana E Mann did a fantastic job of making me feel for the character. She hit on a great balance for why he behaves so selfish and juvenile, while showing vulnerability, compassion, and maturity on the flip side. In my opinion, the best part of this book is the villain Valentina. She is certifiably insane, and I like her. The character was so well written that I just had to keep reading to see what that psychopath did next!

The Ruthless Knight by Jeana Knight is written within the world of the Exiled Prince Trilogy and The Rebel Queen Duet series and focuses on Sir Nikolay (Nicky) Reznik Tarnovsky’s story who has appeared as a character in both of these series. In order to protect his family (including his brother’s wife’s best friend Queen Every), Nicky trades his freedom to Valentina of the Columbia. Cartel who uses him as her lover and for assignments. In order to gain his freedom, Valentina sends him to abduct Calliope Jones who he has admired since she stole valuable items including his Porsche right under his nose. Calliope takes on jobs to support her younger sister and help with their survival. Once Nicky and Calliope get to Columbia things get out of their control and they find they only have each other to depend upon. I highly recommend this excellent very dark addictive read which has amazingly complex characters and an intense plot full of suspense, secrets, emotions, torture, unexpected twists, and dark romance. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The Ruthless Knight by Jeana E. Mann is a dark and twisty contemporary romance set in the same world we were introduced to in the Exiled Prince Trilogy and in the Rebel Queen Duet . This is the story of Sir Nikolay Reznik Tarnovsky (AKA Nicky) and the woman that broke down his walls and stole his heart (along with his watch, priceless painting, and Porsche). It is NOT necessary to have read the other connected series but you will know who ends up together so small spoiler alert. Calliope has had a hard and difficult life and done everything she could to keep herself and her sister safe, even if that means putting themselves in danger with some of the jobs they take. A fateful encounter with Nicky leaves Calliope on the run and Nicky desperate to find her, not because of their lusty encounter, but because he finally has a chance to escape the ties that have been binding him to a veritable hell on earth. But When Nicky realizes that he'll have to leave Calliope in his place he changes his mind and together, they have to fight their way free from a mad-woman. Well-written and well-paced, dark and twisted, tragic but also romantic, what with Nicky changing his ways and Calliope finding a safe place. Jeana E. Mann has fast become a must-read author for me. Enjoy!
