4By King MelA worthy entry in an indie fantasy series with a strong thread of mystery/murder and a moderate degree of romance. I enjoyed the interesting twist with food magic, although magic is used rather sparingly to keep it fresh for future books. The main characters are interesting and reasonably complex with the exception of the irresistible, womanizing hunk. There is also the standard nasty beautiful girl, thankfully with very limited exposure. I was glad that the romance element was kept under control for the most part, although the author did resort to the old standby of an “unlikely couple rapidly falling in love.” I enjoyed this book and I have already purchased the next book in the series.Fun Read
