Description

So, you’ve started playing around with After Effects, maybe watched some YouTube tutorials, and wondering what the next step is? Or perhaps you already know After Effects pretty well, but still feel there’s a gap between you and a ‘real’ motion graphics professional? Well, there is a difference between knowing how to use the software and creating good motion graphics. For the latter, you need to know not just which buttons to click, but also a great deal about design, workflow, and even how your audience’s brain works.
This book is here to bridge the gap between what you can figure out with learning by doing and what you need to know to become a professional motion graphics artist.

I’ve been a self-taught motion graphics artist for many years and this book helped fill in some gaps in my knowledge and was also an intro to some areas I have little experience with, such as working with spreadsheets and data-driven animation. Plus, the embedded videos are easy to follow and great visual references. And it’s free!

I got this book this morning on a whim, and I’m glad I did. Thought it would be a nice short read at only 51 pages. However, once I saw that it had embedded videos explaining the concepts with well thought out examples, away I went down the rabbit hole. I would say I lost my entire morning with this book but learning this much is never a loss of time. If you are interested in motion graphics and how they work, this is a great place to start.
