He's a playboy warrior. She's a talented bowyer. He craves her attention. She's determined to ignore him. Can they stand each other long enough to realize they're a perfect match?
Brodie 'The Bear' Fletcher is a ladies' man. A legendary warrior on the battlefield, his conquests in the bedchamber are equally renowned. He belongs to no one and prefers it that way. But as Head Guardsman of the War Band to Chieftain Beiste MacGregor, Brodie is often in the company of an infuriating mixed-race bowyer named Orla who challenges him at every turn. With razor-sharp wit and a waspish tongue, she's a constant thorn in his side—and the woman he can't seem to get out of his head.
Orla 'the Orphan' has loved Brodie Fletcher for as long as she can remember, but he broke her heart years ago ... and never even noticed. Abandoned on the doorstep of Morag the Oracle, she was raised with the MacGregor clan. A master huntress and trusted advisor to the chieftain's wife, Orla has finally let go of the past and is ready to move on. If only the most infuriating rogue on the planet would leave her in peace.
But everything changes when Jarls from the North stake their claim. Suddenly, Brodie finds himself unwilling to let go of the very woman who threatens to steal his heart.
They will all discover firsthand what happens when you poke the Bear.

Reviews
Too modern
3By gdarub xThe author claims to do historical research but she uses a lot of modern day speech and sayings. Also she turns typically fearsome warriors into wimpy house husbands after marrying their women. Not so historically accurate, in my opinion.Loved it

5By j21969I look forward to great things from Elina Emerald if she is this new to writing and doing such a good job. I like her stories and the twists. At some points it gets a little complicated but it doesn’t detract from the overall story. One complaint please phonetically spell out some of these names for us! Otherwise worth my time.
